Tell Students: Salamanca Information Session-Study in Spain

Next Thursday, November 4, at 12:15 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115, students will learn how they can earn six credits studying in Salamanca, Spain, next summer. They will find out how scholarships and financial aid can make it possible. They will have the opportunity to speak with the director and past participants and view a PowerPoint presentation. Encourage them not to miss out on the career enhancement overseas study can provide!

Fronczak Foundation Lecture

This year's Fronczak Foundation Lecture will be given by James S. Pula. A Purdue University professor of history, Pula specializes in ethnic and immigration studies, and American Civil War and Reconstruction. He is also editor of Polish American Studies published by the Polish American Historical Association, and editor-in-chief of Polish-American History and Culture: An Encyclopedia. Among the books he has published is Thaddeus Kosciuszko: Purest Son of Liberty. Pula will speak on "Tadeusz Kosciuszko - Engineer of American Democracy" in E. H. Butler Library 210 at 2:00 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments will be served. For more information, please call ext. 6208.

Communication Department Hosts Buffalo Premiere of <em>Gasland</em>

Gasland, a film by Josh Fox, will make its Buffalo debut at Buffalo State College on Saturday, October 30, at 7:00 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center East. Hailed by Variety as “one of the most effective and expressive environmental films of recent years,” Gasland chronicles the natural-gas drilling boom that has swept across the United States in recent years as the Halliburton-developed drilling technology of “fracking” has unlocked a “Saudi Arabia of natural gas” beneath us.

Cell Phone Drive for Domestic Violence Shelters

Kappa Omega Social Work Honor Society is collecting cell phones, chargers, and batteries to be donated to the Verizon HopeLine for use by domestic violence victims. These items can be dropped off in the HopeLine box at the Campbell Student Union Information Desk or at the Social Work Department Office in Classroom Building C115 through December 6. Include your name and phone number with your donated cell phone to be entered in a drawing for prizes, including Jim Kelly signed memorabilia. The drawing will be held on or about December 7. Winners will be contacted.
