To celebrate those students who make a significant mark on our community during their first year, University College has instituted a group of awards for first year students and the faculty who teach and mentor them.

Tomorrow is National Employee Fitness Day! The Fitness Center will be open free of charge. Membership deals and gifts will be available to our new members. The grading window for Session A opens June 25 and closes July 1; grading for Session 1 is open July 9–14; grading for Session B is open July 23–July 28; grading for Session C and Session 2 takes place August 13–18.
Last Saturday was the six-month anniversary of Jim Haynes’s death. Jim was a SUNY Distinguished Teaching Professor of Biology and had served as chair of the Biology Department, chair of the Faculty of Natural and Social Sciences, and vice chair of the College Senate. His partner, Don Licht, is hosting an all-day remembrance party for Jim at their home on 69 Johnson Parkway on Saturday, May 30, starting at 1:30 p.m. This is an open house; everyone who knew Jim is welcome to join Don and celebrate Jim’s life and share memories. Don is going to provide hamburgers, hot dogs, and beverages. He is asking guests to provide a covered dish to share. If you plan to attend, please e-mail the Biology Department at biology@buffalostate.edu.
