In April, you were sent materials by the NYS Department of Civil Service (Employee Benefits Division) and Budco Health Services Solution regarding the Dependent Eligibility Verification Project. Before they ask you to provide proof of eligibility for your dependent(s), they are allowing a special amnesty period to remove ineligible dependents from health insurance without penalty. It is very important that you respond to the materials by Friday, June 12, 2009. If you fail to remove ineligible dependents during this special amnesty period, you risk losing dependent coverage effective February 1, 2009, and being held responsible for repaying claims paid under NYSHIP for those dependents as early as the date the dependent was first added to coverage. Other penalties could also be imposed.
