On Thursday, June 18, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m., artist Margaret Martin will introduce her transparent watercolor technique. As she explains it, “There is nothing quite as beautiful as the glow of white paper seen through a transparent wash. After all, light is one of the most exquisite gems of all."

The six-week Summer 2009 Workplace Yoga Program begins June 17 and continues through July 22. Classes will be held on Wednesdays from noon to 1:00 p.m. The cost is $66.

The Speech-Language Pathology Department will host its first annual Alumni Champagne Social at Campus House on Friday, June 5, from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. This event will serve to [re]connect graduates and friends of the department and raise funds for graduate student scholarships. All are invited to come and enjoy a night reminiscing with classmates and socializing with friends. The evening will include great food and drinks, live jazz music, a basket raffle, giveaways, and guided tours of the new Speech-Language Hearing Clinic. There is a small donation to attend. The Equity and Campus Diversity Office will conduct an interactive workshop for professional staff on the prevention of sexual harassment in the workplace on Thursday, June 18, from 10:00 a.m. to noon in CLAS C122.

Buffalo State College faculty and staff members and their families can enjoy free admission to Old Fort Niagara in Youngstown, New York, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 24. Observe the Archaeological Field School Open House under the direction of Susan Maguire, lecturer in the Anthropology Department and Elizabeth Peña, director of the Art Conservation Department. Tour the French Castle, enjoy the grounds, and see the visitor center. Historical demonstrations run from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Valid Buffalo State ID is required for admission.
