The Banner system is still being prepared for access by students, faculty, and staff in preparation for early registration starting April 11. Instructions for accessing Banner are being distributed to faculty and staff who have accounts in Banner. Users will be notified when they can gain access to Banner before April 11.

Masonry Repair Work on Several Buildings to Begin Next Week

The college is about to begin the second phase of a project to repair deteriorated masonry at several buildings. This year work will be performed at Bulger Communication Center, Buckham Campus School, Butler Library, and the Sports Arena. Temporary fencing will be set up in the coming week to safely separate work areas from pedestrian traffic.

EAP Coordinator to Retire

Longtime Employee Assistance Program coordinator David Cummings will leave his EAP position on March 30. Cummings served as a campus program coordinator for nearly 20 years. The EAP Committee is grateful for his extensive dedication and service to the campus community. Buffalo State employees seeking the services of EAP after March 30 are encouraged to call one of the other campus coordinators for assistance. Applications for $3,000 CASTL Fellowships Due April 9

The CASTL Advisory Committee and Academic Affairs will award three one-year, $3,000 faculty development fellowships to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning on campus. All tenured and tenure-track Buffalo State faculty members are eligible to apply. Research funded by these fellowships can be empirical (qualitative or quantitative studies, measurement of student learning or teaching effectiveness, etc.) or conceptual (design of educational innovations, curriculum development, pedagogical problem analysis, etc.). The Advisory Committee encourages proposals that analyze, extend, or apply the results of the National Survey of Student Engagement and the companion faculty survey. All proposals that represent the scholarship of teaching and learning are welcome; however, the committee will give priority to projects that focus on the following areas:

Foster Youth Computer Camp Receives Private Support

Thomas C. Perry has provided support for the Social Work Department's foster youth computer camp, a collaborative project that will provide 15 foster youth with the chance to learn computer skills and be presented with a personal computer, and will put them on a more level educational field with their non-foster-care peers. The camp will be offered over one weekend on campus and will provide the youth with access to home computers within a real-world context of seeking employment, building skills for independence, and creating a supportive peer network. Buffalo State students will mentor the camp participants.

CPR Classes at Weigel Health Center

You can learn the skills to perform CPR in a little more than two hours. Weigel Health Center is offering CPR/AED classes free of charge on April 2 and April 15 starting at 10:00 a.m. You will learn how to perform CPR on adults, children, and infants; how to use an automated external defibrillator (AED); and how to help a choking victim.
