Tim Bryant, associate professor of English, presented his research at the NarraScope 2024 conference, hosted by the Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York, June 21-23. His talk, "The Art of Ludic Adaptation: How to Make Games out of Books, Movies, or Almost Anything," explored the scholarship and pedagogy of games for learning in the college classroom. This work builds on Dr. Bryant's research into the dynamics of narrative in games, as well as his recent certification in applied game design from Central Michigan University's Center for Learning through Games and Simulations.

Vida Vanchan, interim associate dean of the School of the Professions, director of the Buffalo State Global Studies Institute, and professor of geosciences, recently gave a talk titled "Regional and Global Challenges to Circular Economy" at the Fulbright University Vietnam. This talk discussed how climate change has affected countries and people around the world, gathering increasing interests and efforts to mitigate its negative impact and to protect the environment and the concept of circular economy (CE). Generating a CE is often seen as one of the solutions in preventing resource depletion and promoting conservation. The talk discussed her ongoing research and collaborative work in Southeast Asia, the United States, and Europe.
