Under "look up classes," students can search for Intersemester courses under "part of term."  After login, the click path is Student and Financial Aid > Registration > Search for Classes > Select Spring 2008 and Submit > Look Up Classes > choose Intersemester under Part of Term.

New Intellectual Foundations Mathematics and Quantitative Reasoning Course

This spring semester, the Mathematics Department is piloting a new introductory-level math course titled "Functions and Modeling" that carries Intellectual Foundations credit. It is designed for students who have had three years of high school mathematics but not at a level that has prepared them for MAT 124: Precalculus or beyond. Students who plan to take a future statistics course in their major or who enjoy seeing mathematics as connected to the world around them will benefit from this course. In the spring, the course number will be MAT 189, but in future semesters it will be MAT 114.

Project Flight's Book Giveaway: Next Week Wednesday and Thursday

Attention faculty, staff, and students! Project Flight and President Muriel Howard would like to thank the faculty, staff, and students for their support throughout Project Flight's years here on the Buffalo State College campus. (Project Flight will be moving off campus soon.) As this is our last book giveaway on campus, we will be open two days: next Wednesday and Thursday, November 14 and 15, from 9:30 a.m. to  3:00 p.m. The location is next to the Game Room, downstairs in the Campbell Student Union. Important note: On Wednesday, November 14, the giveaway is open to all academic, professional, and clerical staff, as well as graduate assistants and work-study students. On Thursday, November 15, the giveaway will be open to everybody. Please bring your own bags! See you there!

Retirement Dinner Party for Chief Roger Wisniewski

The University Police Department is hosting a retirement dinner party for Chief Roger Wisniewski at DiTondo's Tavern in downtown Buffalo on November 27 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. Dinner will be served at 5:00 p.m. Those in the campus community who would like to celebrate Roger's 35 years in law enforcement may purchase a ticket from Deputy Chief Peter Carey, Assistant Chief of Police John Lombardo, Officer Pat Hayes, or Officer Willard Moreland. Tickets are $25 per person. Payments will be accepted in cash or by U.S. postal money order only. For more information, please e-mail the University Police Department.

Newman Center Scholars Forum: November 5

Please join us at the Buffalo State College Newman Center (1219 Elmwood Ave, 14222) on Monday, November 5, at 7:00 p.m. for the Newman Scholars Forum presentation and discussion on "Faith and Consumerism." The Newman Scholar's Forum gathers experts from various faith traditions to engage in dialogue about important social and spiritual issues. Our upcoming forum will involve various faith perspectives on consumerism and, more broadly, living simply. Panelists include Rev. Gabriel Scarfia, OFM (Christianity), from Christ the King Seminary; Professor Jeannette Ludwig (Buddhism) from the University at Buffalo; and Professor Othman Shibly (Islam) from the University at Buffalo.

Newman Center's Friday Mass Canceled Today

Please note that today's weekly Friday Mass, scheduled for 12:05 p.m. in Butler Library 208, is canceled. Fr. Pat, director of Catholic Campus Ministry, will resume regularly scheduled weekly Mass on campus next Friday, November 9.
