Fall 2014 Grading Window Dates

Faculty members will enter their fall 2014 grades using Banner. The grading window will open Monday, December 8, at 9:00 a.m. and close Wednesday, December 17, at 9:00 p.m. In preparation, faculty members are encouraged to log on to Banner to be sure that all their courses are listed under their accounts. Detailed documentation for entering grades is available on the Banner website. (PDF). Additionally, assistance is available by calling the Computing Help Desk at ext. 4357 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

If you have any questions about grading, please call the Registrar's Office at ext. 4811. We have provided a grading tip sheet (PDF) to assist you in successful grading.

After you have completed (submitted/saved) your fall 2014 grades, go back in to your roster and double-check that all grades are there as you intended. If you have any questions about grading, please call the Registrar's Office at ext. 4811. We have provided a grading tip sheet (PDF) to assist you in successful grading.

Defensive Driving Course: Registration Deadline October 6

The Buffalo State Alumni Association has teamed up with Liberty Mutual Insurance Company to offer a defensive driving class to Buffalo State faculty, staff, alumni, and students on Saturday, October 18, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 113.

Save money on your auto insurance by taking this class offered through Liberty Mutual. Friends and relatives are also welcome if accompanied by a faculty or staff member, alumnus, or student. The cost of the class is $22 per person.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a certificate that must be submitted to their auto insurance provider to receive the discount. The discount is for 10 percent off liability insurance in New York State regardless of provider. This course will also remove points on participants' driver’s licenses.

To enroll, call Mike DiCioccio, Buffalo State's local Liberty Mutual representative, at (716) 997-5312. The registration deadline for this class is Monday, October 6.

NYS Citizen Preparedness Training

A workshop on citizen preparedness for emergency situations will be held Friday, September 26, at 9:30 a.m. in Butler Library 210. The workshop will run about 90 minutes. The presentation will give a comprehensive overview on how to prepare for, respond to, and recover from natural and manmade disasters. The session will also provide information on types of common disasters; ways to prepare as an individual, family, and community member; and what to do when disaster strikes.

This session is sponsored by the Buffalo State Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).

All faculty members are strongly encouraged to view and print a copy of the grading tip sheet (PDF) and use it in conjunction with the instructions for entering final grades in Banner. (PDF)

Faculty members may also view our video “How to Grade in Banner” and view and print the faculty grading tip sheet, the faculty grading schedule for 2014, and an explanation of grades at www.buffalostate.edu/registrar/FacultyGrading.xml.

Please join us for a screening of The Homestretch, a 2014 documentary about homeless teens in Chicago, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, September 25, in the Burchfield Penney Art Center. The film, the first in an exciting year-long film screening and discussion series, "Beyond Boundaries, Dare to Be Diverse," will be followed by a discussion with the following panelists:

Buffalo State Idea Lab: First Meeting of the Fall Semester - Today

The Buffalo State Idea Lab is excited to bring faculty and staff members back together today, September 19, for our first meeting of the semester at 1:00 p.m. in Rockwell Hall 204. We'll review last year's ideas and share new ideas, including ideas about how to pursue our ideas. The Idea Lab is a grassroots project designed to strengthen our institutional capacity and create a platform for new collaborations and unexpected outcomes. If you have even part of an idea, join us. We are interested in your thinking. Everyone is welcome.
