Do you Love Pepsi's Dr. Pepper? Then you will love Dr. Pepper Day on Wednesday, October 5, in the Residential Dining Hall during dinner. Enjoy meats braised in Dr. Pepper, desserts, and more. We hope to see you there.

Flu vaccines will be available for faculty and staff members on Thursday, October 6, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Butler Library 208. No appointment is necessary.

The following health insurance plans will be accepted: Blue Cross Blue Shield of WNY, Independent Health, Blue Choice, MVP, and Medicare Part B. Employees without a participating insurance plan will be charged $30 for the flu shot. The FluMist will not be available this year in accordance with CDC recommendations.

Participation and acceptance of any insurance is not a guarantee of benefits or payment in full. Co-payments or a deductible may apply. Please call your insurance provider’s member services department with questions regarding coverage. Empire Plan enrollees may obtain their flu shot from an Empire Plan participating pharmacy without a co-pay or at their doctor’s office (participating provider) for their usual co-pay should they wish to do so.

Weigel Health Promotions will host a therapy dog through the Erie County SPCA’s Paws for Love program on Wednesday, October 12, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union lobby. Therapy dogs are a great way to relieve stress during some of the most difficult parts of the semester. We encourage all of our Buffalo State community to stop by and say hello to our furry friend.

The Counseling Center thanks the Buffalo State community for making the 2016 Out of the Darkness Buffalo Walk for suicide prevention on Saturday, September 10, a huge success. We had 27 members on our Buffalo State Cares UPstanders team and raised $2,701! The funds we raised earned us a team sign on the walk route and our team name proudly displayed on the official event T-shirt.

We are proud to be a part of Buffalo State’s dedication to service to improve the quality of life for our campus and larger community.

The Buffalo State Rotaract Club will hold a Homecoming bake sale on Thursday, September 22, from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. outside the Campbell Student Union. There will be lots of tasty treats available, all for $1 apiece. Raffle tickets will also be sold for $1 each. Proceeds will be donated to the Food Bank of WNY to help families in need. There's still time for students, faculty, and staff to register for Bengals Dare to Care Day with President Katherine Conway-Turner on Saturday, September 17, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with lunch following. Participants can choose from over 30 projects when they check in. This family-friendly event will bring our campus community together in celebration of Buffalo State's social responsibility and spirit of community engagement. Advance registration is appreciated.
