Come and celebrate the First Friday of each month at the Newman Center. Join us at 8:00 a.m. in the chapel as we gather for Mass and start the month with a renewed perspective. We hope you can be part of our journey as we remember the late Jaelah Yannis Jenkins, who aspired to one day be a writer but is now helping us support future writers and EOP graduates through the JYJ EOP Fund.

Tickets are available for a $50 donation to the Jaelah Yannis Jenkins EOP Program Fund. All proceeds benefit the Buffalo State Educational Opportunity Program.

If you are unable to make it but wish to support the program, please make a gift to the Jaelah Jenkins EOP Fund in support of our students on the Buffalo State Alumni Association website. During the week of July 24, Campus Services' certified nursery and landscape professionals will begin removing a number of blighted ash trees from the Bengal Walk area. These trees will be replaced by a diversified selection of trees beginning this fall. Please visit the Maude Gordon Holmes Arboretum web page for more information.

Please join us for a pizza party fundraiser on Tuesday, August 8, at noon in Perry Quad near the Campbell Student Union. Proceeds will be used to purchase an evergreen tree in honor of Steven Daniels, the son of Buffalo State staff member Gail Daniels. Steven, who graduated from Buffalo State in 2005, passed away on Christmas Day 2010.

Tickets are $10 and include Bocce Club pizza, salad, choice of dessert, and a bottle of water. There will also be a basket raffle, so be sure to bring extra cash. Advance ticket sales are encouraged to help organizers determine how much food to order. Tickets may be purchased through CeCe Duerr, senior program coordinator in the Center for Health and Social Research, or Marcia Sypniewski, office assistant 1 in Campus Services. Tickets may also be purchased the day of the fundraiser.

The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive on Tuesday, August 29, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Social Hall. Presenting donors with a valid e-mail address will receive a $5 Target e-giftcard via e-mail.
