Call for Tennis Players: Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic - September 10

The Buffalo State College Foundation event committee seeks tennis players of all skill levels to participate in the 21st annual Foundation Golf and Tennis Scholarship Classic on Monday, September 10, at Park Country Club in Amherst. Proceeds from the event will support Buffalo State’s Muriel A. Howard Honors Program, which is funded entirely by donations. The entry fee for individual players is $250, a portion of which is tax deductible. Round robin play begins at 2:00 p.m.

Pepsi Beverages Company is the presenting sponsor of this annual event, which includes a lunch buffet, cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and dinner. Sponsorship opportunities, as well as a limited number of golf spots, are still available.

Online registration is open until Saturday, September 1. For more information please contact Christie Walker, special events coordinator, 878-3077.

Call for Volunteers: New Student Convocation - August 24

Buffalo State’s annual First-Year Convocation for fall 2018 will be held Friday, August 24, at 9:00 a.m. in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall as part of Orientation 102. This event officially introduces and welcomes our newest students to the campus community with the hope that they will embrace Buffalo State College as their alma mater.

This event requires the enthusiastic participation of our campus community to succeed. All departments and offices are encouraged to allow their staff members to support this event as a work assignment for that morning by marching in convocation or volunteering to assist with the event. Faculty, librarians, and professional staff members are urged to process in regalia to demonstrate Buffalo State's commitment to incoming students and welcome the Class of 2022. Please register online by Wednesday, August 15, if you are available to march or volunteer for the event.

Transfer Finder Presentations: August 7, 9

Buffalo State faculty and staff members are invited to attend a brief overview and demonstration of Transfer Finder, an advising tool that will soon be available in Degree Works, on Tuesday, August 7, or Thursday, August 9, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. in Bulger Communication Center South.

In coordination with the SUNY-wide mobility initiative, Transfer Finder allows students to go "degree shopping" at any of our 63 SUNY partner schools. Tranfer Finder helps students and advisers see how courses transfer to other SUNY schools in the degree program of their choice.

Join Chartwells Dining for a $5 Friday barbecue each Friday this summer, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., until August 10. Tickets can be purchased the same day in the Bengal Kitchen in the Campbell Student Union. The barbecue will take place in the Plaza between the Student Union and Butler Library.
