Farewell Reception for Brad Fuster: July 16

Please join us for cake as we congratulate and wish farewell to Brad Fuster, associate vice president for institutional effectiveness, on Monday, July 16, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Cleveland Hall 418. Dr. Fuster will be leaving Buffalo State to take on a new role as interim provost and vice president for academic affairs at Keuka College. Please stop by and join us in thanking him for his outstanding service to Buffalo State and to wish him well in his new position.

College Senate Standing Committee Interest Form Now Available

If you are interested in serving on one or more of the eight College Senate standing committees for 2018–2019, please complete and submit the Standing Committee Interest Form (doc) by Friday, August 10. Committee membership is determined solely at the discretion of committee chairs. Not all committees may need members. Please submit forms by campus mail or e-mail to Vincent Masci, assistant to the College Senate, Cleveland Hall 211.

Governor Cuomo Directs Flags to Half-Staff

Posted:

New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo directed that flags on all state government buildings be lowered to half-staff Monday, July 2, 2018, in honor of New York State Police Trooper Nicholas F. Clark, who died in the line of duty yesterday in Steuben County. Flags will remain lowered until Trooper Clark's interment. More information is available on the governor’s website.

First Friday Mass: July 6

Come and celebrate Mass on Friday, July 6, the first Friday of the month, at 8:00 a.m. in the Newman Center Chapel. We will gather for Mass and start the month with a renewed perspective. Stay for a cup of coffee afterward or take a cup to go.

The Newman Center is located at 1219 Elmwood Avenue, across from the Burchfield Penney Art Center. Everyone is welcome.

2018-2019 Parking Permits Available Online July 8

Faculty and staff parking permit stickers for the 2018–2019 academic year will be available to purchase online beginning Sunday, July 8. Employees must log on to the system with their campus usernames and passwords. Permits can be sent via U.S. mail to employees' address of record or picked up in the Parking Services Office, Chase Hall 126. A valid photo ID must be shown when picking up a parking permit.

Staff members who do not have a campus username and password may apply for their parking permits in person in the Parking Services Office. Permits are not available from Student Accounts.

University Police will begin ticketing for No Permit violation beginning Tuesday, September 4. If you have elected to have your permit mailed to you and have not yet received it by this date, please stop at University Police or Parking Services to obtain a temporary permit for the day.

Volunteers Needed for Bengals Dare to Care Day: September 15

Bengals Dare to Care Day 2018 will be held Saturday, September 15, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and we need your help. Please consider signing up to assist the Civic and Community Engagement Office with this campus and community-wide event.  

Day of Event Assistant (8:00–10:30 a.m.)
There are never enough hands to help with the logistics of this campuswide event. We are looking for dependable faculty and staff members who would be interested in lending a hand for the following:
• Staff the check-in table (sitting)
• Hand out T-shirts (standing)
• Help with crowd control (standing)
• Be a bus supporter to send the groups out to their projects (standing and some walking) 

Site Coordinator (8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m.):
There will be 30–35 community service projects throughout the city of Buffalo, and each project needs a site coordinator to assist with logistics. Please consider signing up for this important job. Your responsibilities would include signing students in to your project, greeting and communicating with your community partner on the day of the event, keeping your volunteers motivated and safe, facilitating a reflection discussion after the project is complete, and being a point of contact with the CCE throughout the morning. In return, you will get to know a great group of community-minded students, meet incredible community members doing great work throughout our city, and receive a delicious lunch when you return.

New Senator Orientation: September 6

The College Senate will hold its annual New Senator Orientation for all newly elected senators on Thursday, September 6, during Bengal Pause in the Carmine A. Grande Room, Cleveland Hall 418. This informal session, hosted by the Senate chair and parliamentarian, gives newly elected faculty, professional staff, and students the basic protocol on Senate meeting etiquette. The College Senate follows Robert’s Rules of Order as is mandated by its bylaws. Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged. Please e-mail Vincent Masci, assistant to the College Senate, or phone the office at 878-5139 with questions.
