Attention, Drupal Users: Final Content Freeze August 15-21

Posted:

The second and final web content freeze for official Drupal websites will take place Wednesday, August 15, through Tuesday, August 21.

We are asking campus users to help support this initiative by holding off on making website content changes during this upcoming period. If site changes are mission-critical, please submit them to webadmin@buffalostate.edu and College Relations will apply updates directly. Changes made by users directly to sites during this content freeze period will not carry over to the new system.

Users may resume making changes effective Wednesday, August 22, when all 150 official Drupal websites will be running off our new off-campus web host.

We thank the campus for its patience during this time. Please send your questions, comments, and concerns to Melissa Meehan, director of web administration, 878-3903.

Information Security Awareness: Beware of Suspicious Media

Posted:

Several state government entities (specifically addressed to "state archives") have reported receiving suspicious envelopes containing multiple CDs. These envelopes were postmarked from China and additionally contained a piece of paper with what appears to be text translated to English. The NYS Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Services Cyber Incident Response Team (DHSES-CIRT) has found that no malicious files were contained on the disks received thus far by NYS entities.

The SUNY Information Security Office is recommending that all employees be suspicious of unexpected media such as CDs, DVDs, or thumb drives showing up in the mail or found on the premises. Any such event should be reported to the RITE Support Desk. Do not attempt to read the items using a campus or personal computer.
