Vacation Accruals for Classified Service Employees

Posted:

Employees in the CSEA, PEF, PBANYS, and NYSCOPBA bargaining units are reminded that any vacation accrual balances that exceed 40 days on April 1, 2019 (October 1, 2019, for PBANYS and NYSCOPBA) must be adjusted downward to stay within the maximum allowed by the NYS Attendance Rules and the Agreements between the Public Employee Unions and the State of New York.

If your vacation balance exceeds 300 hours (for employees who work a 7˝ hour day) or 320 hours (for employees who work an 8-hour day), you may wish to request to use vacation time before April 1, 2019 (October 1, 2019, for PBANYS and NYSCOPBA) to avoid losing leave accruals.

Urgent: Chaperone Needed - New York State Model Senate and Somos el Futuro Conference: March 8-10

Posted:

Because of unforeseen circumstances, Student Leadership and Engagement needs a chaperone to escort four students to the New York State Model Senate and Somos el Futuro conference in Albany, New York, Friday, March 8, through Sunday, March 10. The chaperone must be over 25 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. The chaperone’s responsibility is to transport the students from the Buffalo State campus to Albany on Friday morning, escort them to and from conference activities, and return them to Buffalo State safely on Sunday afternoon.

The chaperone will have a private room at Home2 in Albany, a rented vehicle paid for by our office, all meals and gas reimbursed (unless the chaperone has a travel card), and meals covered by SUNY during the duration of the conference. This is an excellent experience not only for the students but also for the chaperone to connect with student leaders; tour the New York State Senate chambers and SUNY headquarters; connect with state, SUNY, and CUNY leaders; and attend the Somos el Futuro conference and closing gala with state assembly members and senators.

The need is critical. We must cancel the trip if we do not have a chaperone by 4:00 p.m. Thursday, March 7. The students have prepared a defense of a current bill and have the opportunity to represent a local senator and debate in the New York State Senate chambers. This is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for our student leaders, and we would be heartbroken to cancel the trip. This is a fun experience and will have a great impact on the four students in attendance. If you are interested or would like more information, please contact Sean P. Terry, student activities assistant for evening and weekend life, 878-4631, as soon as possible. Thank you.
