2021 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report Posted

Buffalo State College’s 2021 Annual Security and Fire Safety Report (PDF, 2.5 MB) is now available online. This report is required by federal law and contains policy statements and crime statistics for the college. The policy statements address Buffalo State’s policies, procedures, and programs concerning safety and security, for example, policies for responding to emergency situations and sexual offenses. Three years’ worth of crime statistics are included for certain types of crimes that were reported to have occurred on campus, in or on off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by the college, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to the campus. This report is posted online at https://police.buffalostate.edu/sites/police.buffalostate.edu/files/uploads/Documents/2021_asr.pdf.

Please join us for the next installation of the Data Science and Analytics Fall 2021 Seminar Series, "Nontraditional Pathways to Leadership," presented by Jacquelyn Malcolm, vice chancellor of information technology for the Minnesota State System, on Wednesday, November 3, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. via Zoom.

Dr. Malcolm will talk about the following:

  • Raising your hand 
  • Leadership does not have to be obtained on a straight line 
  • Helping others along your journey 
  • Experiences outside of your discipline

Diversity Dialogue Series: Gliset Colón and Hermen Díaz III - October 12

The campus community is invited to join us for the first event of the semester in the Diversity Dialogue Speaker Series, featuring Gliset Colón, assistant professor of exceptional education, and Hermen Díaz III, assistant professor of higher education administration, on Tuesday, October 12, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Gliset Colón, Ph.D., is the coordinator of the teaching bilingual exceptional individuals graduate certificate program. Dr. Colón has research interests and expertise in literacy and language outcomes for multilingual students with and without disabilities, multitiered systems of support, disproportionality, and intersectionality. Dr. Colón is actively involved in several professional organizations at the local, state, and national levels.

Hermen Díaz III, Ph.D., brings over a decade of experience as a scholar-practitioner in higher education administration. His scholarly interests center on the experiences of students of color at institutions of higher education. Dr. Diaz's research specifically concentrates on the transactional relationship between the campus environment and Latino men as it relates to belonging, equity, and liberation. Dr. Díaz received a B.A. in psychology from Grand Valley State University, an M.S. in student personnel administration from Buffalo State College, and a Ph.D. in higher education leadership from Colorado State University.  

The Diversity Dialogue Series has gained a reputation for combining the use of interactive activities and dialogues as a means for participants to discuss issues of justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion.

The Equity and Campus Diversity Dialogue Series has also been hailed for its ability to bring together Buffalo State’s students, faculty, and staff.

This event is supported by Buffalo State’s Equity and Campus Diversity Office.

J-Term, Spring 2022 Banner Preview Starts October 6

The web registration schedules for J-Term and the spring 2022 semester have been posted on the Registrar's Office Courses web page.

Starting Wednesday, October 6, students will be able to

  • view both the J-Term and spring 2022 master schedules on the Registrar's Office Courses web page;
  • view both the J-Term and spring 2022 master schedules directly in Banner;
  • view both the J-Term and spring 2022 master schedules in Schedule Planner;
  • view updated holds if applicable (PDF, 119 KB);
  • view their individual registration time tickets (the actual date a student can register based on earned credit hours).

Registration begins at 6:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, and is then continuous.

'Mindfully Preventing Screen-Time Burnout' - November 9

Please join Weigel Health Promotions and Pure Life Therapy for an online discussion of tips and techniques to prevent screen-time burnout on Tuesday, November 9, at 7:00 p.m. We will cover how to recognize burnout and learn mindfulness techniques such as meditation and mindful movement. The movement will be demonstrated standing up, so please wear clothing that is easy to move around in, as you will be encouraged to participate. (Cameras can be turned off for the movement). Great extra credit or organization event!
