Grading Reminder: Last Date of Attendance

Posted:

When issuing a student a non-passing grade, including an E, F, U, I, or N grade, please also report the student's last date of attendance when entering the grade online. This assists the Financial Aid Office in determining whether a student unofficially withdrew and whether the student is able to retain the aid he or she received.

The last date of attendance is the last date the student participated in class, took an exam, handed in homework, or actively engaged in an online course. If assigning an I or N grade, the last date of attendance is the last date you met with the student to discuss progress in the course. If you have no record of the student's attending, do not enter a date. Instead, use the grade EV, which indicates that the student never attended the course.

Questions regarding this policy or procedure should be referred to the Financial Aid Office, (716) 878-4902. The grading guide (PDF, 162 KB) may also assist you.

Featured Dish from Interdisciplinary 'Iron Chef' Competition in Bengal Kitchen This Friday

Posted:

Chartwells, the Speech-Language Pathology (SLP) Department, and the Health, Nutrition, and Dietetics (HND) Department will team up to share a featured dish from the interdisciplinary “Iron Chef” event on Friday, May 12, in the Bengal Kitchen.

The Purple Team’s dish of chicken biryani will be featured. Five student teams from Buffalo State’s SLP and HND departments competed in an interdisciplinary "Iron Chef" style competition last month and were tasked with creating a recipe specific to a clinical case. The teams had to come up with a flavorful dish while meeting strict nutritional guidelines. Now, Chartwells and Team Purple wants you to try their creation. Join us for lunch in the Bengal Kitchen this Friday to test it out. One meal swipe or $7 Friday applies for entry.

Call for Proposals: Anne Frank Project's 15th Annual Social Justice Festival

Posted:

Buffalo State University's Anne Frank Project will host its 15th annual AFP Social Justice Festival Wednesday and Thursday, October 4 and 5.

This year's theme is AFP 2023: Ideas + Action = Justice. We are actively seeking proposals from a variety of disciplines to share their expertise, skills, and artistry with university students, faculty, staff, and surrounding community members that will engage diverse communities in teachable ways to respond rather than react. Ideas without action require no courage, no research, and no truth. When ideas are followed up with action, positive impact becomes possible. This is a "response" not a reaction. The Anne Frank Project’s annual festival is the ideal platform for teaching people how to respond versus react to their worlds—this is the only way to make positive personal and social change: justice.

AFP invites presentations, workshops, and performances reflecting on this year's theme. In keeping with the kinesthetic and experiential pillars of the Anne Frank Project, we ask that all session proposals be crafted as one-third theory and two-thirds practice. Encourage your colleagues, friends, and family to share their gifts at Buffalo State University's campuswide signature event. Proposals are due Wednesday, May 24. Submit your proposal today!

For regular updates on the 15th annual Social Justice Festival, please visit our website and follow us on Instagram @annefrankproject.

Please email Jonise Hall, AFP assistant director, with questions.
