The United States Sign Council (USSC) sign design competition awarded Francis S. Lestingi’s company,Signs of Gold Inc., first place for its sign for Family Dentistry, Maria Pieri, D.D.S., on Main Street near Transit Road in Williamsville. This is the sixth consecutive year that Signs of Gold has been awarded first place in this national competition, and the ninth time in the last 10 years. In the trade journal Sign and Digital Graphicscompetition Portfolio 2009, Signs of Gold was awarded the second-place prize for its sign at St. Stephen’s Cemetery on Grand Island. At the USSC annual sign industry convention in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in December, Lestingi presented the seminar “Digital Photo Editing Priority Workflow.” He has also published an article in the January issue of Signs of the Timesmagazine titled “Facing Fascia Installations.” Lestingi has also designed another digital typeface (font), “Fran Hand,” modeled after architects’ lettering style. This is in addition to his calligraphic font “Pierre.”
