The Oral Presidency of Barack Obama, a book by Anthony Neal, associate professor of political science, was recently published by Lexington Books, which is an imprint of the Rowan & Littlefield Publishing Group Inc.

In her role as president of the Middle Atlantic Council of Latin American Studies, Bridget María Chesterton, professor of history and social studies education, organized and hosted the council's 38th annual conference, "Changing Climates in the Americas," at Muhlenberg College in Allentown, Pennsylvania, March 9 and 10. With over 90 presenters and 20 panels, the conference was an overwhelming success.

Dr. Chesterton also published the chapter "From Porteńo to Pontero: The Shifting of Paraguayan Geography and Identity in Asunción in the Early Years of the Stroessner Regime" in the book Big Water: The Making of the Borderlands between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay (University of Arizona Press, 2018; pp. 242–265).

Lynn Boorady, professor and chair of the Fashion and Textile Technology Department, has been elected vice president of operations for the International Textile and Apparel Association (ITAA) Council. ITAA is an international professional organization made up of textile and apparel professors. The ITAA Council serves as the governing board for the organization. As vice president of operations, Dr. Boorady is directly responsible for five committees: Membership, Faculty Fellowships and Awards, Student Fellowships and Awards, Design Awards, and Public Relations.

Bridget María Chesterton, professor of history and social studies education, has published a new book chapter, "Aire acondicionado, ventiladores, y heladeras en Paraguay durante la época de Alfredo Stroessner," in Nuevas perspectivas: Historia del Paraguay actual (I. Telesca y C. Gómez Florentín, eds.; ServiLibro, Asunción, Paraguay: 2018: 13–29).

An article coauthored by Maryruth Glogowski, associate vice president for operations management, RITE, titled “Using an Interprofessional Flipped Classroom Educational Strategy for Developing Evidence-Based Practice Knowledge and Skills,” was published in the Journal of Interprofessional Education & Practice 11: 7–11. The paper's coauthors were Patricia Ohtake, Amy Lyons, Elizabeth Stellrect, Nell Aronoff, Jeremiah Grabowski, and Michelle Zafron.

Wanda Slawinska, associate librarian in Butler Library, gave the Winterim PowerPoint talk "Storks: Poland's Favorite Birds" on January 17.

Zhang Jie, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies, published his paper "The Age-Specific Characteristics of Medically Serious Suicide Attempters Aged 15–45 Years in Rural China" in the journal Psychiatry Research 261: 178–185. The study's coauthors were Liu Yanzheng, Long Sun, and Sibo Zhao. Sibo Zhao was a visiting scholar at Buffalo State in 2010–2011.

Zhang Jie, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies, published his paper "Religious Orientation and Its Relationship to Suicidality: A Study in One of the Least Religious Countries" in the journal Religions 9 (1): 1–15. The study's coauthors were Bob Lew, Jenny Huen, Lu Yuan, Steven Stack, Thambu Maniam, Paul Yip, and Cun-xian Jia.
