Oftentimes art has the power to convey thoughts and emotions more effectively than words. The Counseling Center is seeking artwork for a community display called Hope: Seeing Mental Health through Art. This exhibit, featuring art pieces from the Buffalo State College community, will be displayed in the hanging gallery and mini showcases of E. H. Butler Library during Mental Health Awareness Week, April 2–7.

Students, staff, and faculty members who are interested in having their artwork displayed can call the Counseling Center at ext. 4436 and speak with Suzanne or Brad for more information on the project or to discuss the drop-off and pickup of hangable and other pieces of artwork. (Artwork will be handled with the utmost care and attention; however, all liability for untoward occurrences that may affect pieces is with the lender).

Tuesday Talk: Balancing Work and Life

Posted:

Is work-life balance (or “work-life integration”) a myth or a potential reality? In your professional role, are you supporting a destructive status quo or revising it for self and others?

Life is about what you choose to be. Do you choose to navigate challenges and rise to the top? Or do you participate in generating change, so that the challenges you face are revised and reformed?

Share your thoughts today, February 7, from 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. in the Professional Development Center (E. H. Butler Library 181B).

Bring your lunch; snacks and drinks provided. Some proven strategies from successful practitioners will be shared. Hope to see you there!
