Art Therapy Speaker

The Psychology Club presents guest speaker Lucy Andrus, professor of art education and art therapy, on Thursday, February 9, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Classroom Building A307. She will talk about what art therapy is, present examples, and discuss information on how to train for this career. Refreshments will be provided. This event is funded by United Students Government and the student activity fee.

Tell Students: Workshops to Success - APA Style: Does It Have to Be So Difficult?

The formats required for a research paper can sometimes be confusing and overwhelming. "APA Style: Does It Have to Be So Difficult?" is the next session in the Workshops to Success series sponsored by the Academic Skills Center and offered free to Buffalo State students. Instructor-tutor Tom Renzi will clarify APA style, showing you what information to include and how to organize it.

Fellowship Proposal-Writing Workshops

The Campus Academy for the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) is accepting applications for three one-year, $3,000 faculty development fellowships to promote the scholarship of teaching and learning on campus. Proposal-writing workshops will be held on Monday, February 6, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler Library 181B; Monday, February 13, from noon to 1:00 p.m. in Twin Rise 102; and Thursday, February 16, from 3:00 to 4:30 p.m. in Twin Rise 102. Webinar: Copyright and Social Media

A free webinar, Copyright and Social Media, will be offered on Wednesday, February 8, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. through the Center for Intellectual Property. Jeannette Carmadella, J.D., will discuss the intersection of copyright and social media. This is an online webinar that you can access from your office computer after you have registered with the CIP Community.

Buffalo State is an institutional member of the Center for Intellectual Property (CIP) Community, a member-based community dedicated to providing copyright education, research, and resources to higher education institutions. Included in the membership is access to online training, publications, and webinars.

Tell Students: VSLC Alternative Spring Break Info Session Today

Please inform students about the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center's (VSLC) Alternative Spring Break program and an information session held by student leaders today, January 31, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115. 

Alternative Spring Break is a drug- and alcohol-free opportunity to volunteer, get to know fellow classmates and community members, and grow in leadership and teamwork skills. Students stay together in a local church or community center, perform service throughout the week, and have a chance to get to know a community in new ways. Not to mention...it's fun! This year, two ASB experiences will engage students—one group will travel to Baltimore, Maryland, while the other will stay in our local Buffalo community. 

Please direct students to the information session or the VSLC website for additional information. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 8.
