Webinar: An Introduction to LGBTQH and Sexual Assault

Posted:

This webinar is a collaborative effort of the New York City Anti-Violence Project and the New York State Coalition Against Sexual Assault with support from the New York City Alliance Against Sexual Assault. Educators from the New York City Anti-Violence Project will provide an in-depth understanding of interpersonal, institutional, and cultural biases that lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, and HIV-affected (LGBTQH) individuals encounter prior, during, and after an assault.

This allows participants the opportunity to develop an understanding of potential roadblocks to services for LGBTQH sexual assault survivors and what providers can do to address such barriers.

The webinar will be held Wednesday, March 16, from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in Bulger Communication Center 120.

Sponsored by the Violence Intervention and Victim Advocacy project. For more information, please contact Liz McGough at ext. 4029.

Dr. Mark O. Kimball of the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center will speak about the challenges of getting sensitive instruments cooled to less than one kelvin in outer space, Thursday, March 10, at 12:30 p.m. in Science Building 272. The cooling system is mass and volume constrained, must survive the violence of a rocket launch, and cannot rely upon a density gradient in a working fluid to provide the cooling mechanism.
