Community of Science (COS) Coming to Buffalo State

Posted:

In support of the chancellor’s initiatives on collaboration, the Research Foundation of SUNY has purchased Community of Science (COS) for use on all SUNY campuses. This system will construct a central repository of faculty research profiles and also affords a funding search/alerts database, similar to that currently offered to our campus via the SMARTS database from InfoEd. Implementation has begun and over the next few months COS will construct profiles for all SUNY scholars from publicly available information. These profiles will serve as the initial database entry for each individual and will be fully editable. COS will also implement a “Find a SUNY Scholar” feature on all campus websites, which will enable sharing of expertise not only across SUNY, but throughout the world. The Research Foundation at Buffalo State College will sponsor training sessions for all faculty and staff on all components of COS in the upcoming months.
