The 13th annual Bengal 5K Run and Fun Walk will be held Saturday, March 20, and volunteers are currently needed to assist with the event. Volunteer opportunities are open to any Buffalo State alumni, faculty, staff, students, or community members. You can help support this event by assisting in areas such as race registration, course management, and post-race brunch. Irina Pontrakova, Northeastern State University, Magadan, Russia, will present "Archaeology of the Ushki Lake Sites, Kamchatka, Russia" on Wednesday, March 10, at 2:00 p.m. These sites have yielded important information on the peopling of the Americas sometime after 16,500 years ago. The Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Unit will host its Second annual Research Symposium, Friday, March 12, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in E. H. Butler 210. Papers and roundtable sessions will showcase work from students, faculty, and staff in anthropology, the Burchfield-Penney Art Center, E. H. Butler Library, the Counseling Center, English, psychology, sociology, student personnel administration, technology, and University College. Our keynote presentation will be given by Barbara Wejnert, associate professor and chair of Global Gender Studies at UB.
