It can take up to 450 years for one printer cartridge to decompose in a landfill. Recycling bins for printer cartridges/toner, disks, CDs, DVDs, VHS cassettes, microfiche, batteries, etc. are located in each department and in some common areas in select buildings.

Western New York CERT training is available Monday and Tuesday nights from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Niagara Falls Fire Department, 3115 Walnut Street at  Hyde Park Boulevard. Classes are February 1, 5, 8, 12, 15, 22, and 26 and March 3.

As of January 17, bins were placed in all buildings for recycling plastic, glass, and metal. When using the bins, please follow recycling guidelines found at www.buffalostate.edu/orgs/evergreen. If you see an area that you believe could use a bin, or to request one for an area that you are in, please feel free to call us at ext. 6835.

Global Warming Film and Conference Call

The Green Initiatives Committee, in conjunction with the National Wildlife Federation, is hosting a screening of Al Gore's critically acclaimed documentary An Inconvenient Truth followed by a conference call with climate-change and environmental experts. Limited seating is still available for this important event taking place on Thursday, January 18, at 7:00 p.m. in Butler Library 210B. What’s New in ANGEL 7: Session Added

A second session of “What’s New in ANGEL 7” will be held on Thursday, January 18, at 11:00 a.m. This training is for faculty who have previously been trained in ANGEL 6.3. This one-hour workshop will provide an overview of the new interface and features within ANGEL 7, along with the renamed and relocated features from ANGEL 6.3. Registration and requesting a course site is required as accounts need to be created in advance for the workshop.

Literacy Center Spring Program

The Buffalo State Literacy Center Spring Program offers diagnosis and tutoring for K-12 students who need help with literacy skills. Tutors in the program are graduate students completing their literacy specialist certification and/or master’s degree in education, and work under the guidance of experts in the reading field.
