First Buffalo State Armed Services Reunion November 4 - 6

Buffalo State College will hold its first Armed Services Reunion to honor Buffalo State graduates, students, emeriti, faculty, and staff who have served or are serving in any branch of the United States or Allied military services. The reunion, which will include numerous events both on and off campus, will take place Friday, November 4, through Sunday, November 6.

You can begin to request ANGEL course sites for the spring 2006 semester on Monday, October 31. Go to http://bscintra.buffalostate.edu/AngelRequest and complete the form for each course you are teaching. If you are teaching multiple sections of one course and want a separate course site for each section, fill out a request form for each one.

Associate Deans' Academic Advisement Session Today

The associate deans of the four academic schools will present the second in a series of information sessions about academic advisement today, October 27, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in Bulger Communication Center West 2. The content is based on a faculty survey about common advisement problems. Topics will include the "two-prefix rule," double-dipping, the G.E.T.A., and many others. Memorial Celebration for Phillip Santa Maria

A campus memorial celebrating the life of Phillip Santa Maria, former associate vice president and dean of students, will be held during Bengal Pause (12:15 p.m.) on Thursday, November 17, in Rockwell Hall. Dean Santa Maria died June 29 after suffering for many months with cancer. Please feel free to invite friends and colleagues of Phil's who may wish to attend.

Fourth Annual Understanding Community and Peace Conference

The Buffalo State Committee for the Study of Understanding Community and Peace proudly announces its fourth annual peace conference, to be held Monday, October 24, United Nations Day, in Rockwell Hall Auditorium. The theme for this year's conference is "Innovative Strategies for Understanding Community and Peace." It should be noted that the committee was established in the aftermath of the events of September 11, 2001, with the encouragement of President Muriel Howard. The makeup of the committee represents considerable diversity and includes faculty, staff, students, and members of the Western New York community.

Poetry Reading by Myung Mi Kim

Myung Mi Kim, professor of English and member of the faculty of the poetics program at the University at Buffalo, will read from her poetry at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 23, in the Burchfield-Penney Art Center. Kim was born in 1957 in Seoul, South Korea. Her family emigrated to the United States when she was 9.
