The campuswide fire alarm system upgrade project continues to move forward. Work is now well under way in Caudell Hall, with ceilings removed and new work proceeding. The contractor will be starting work in Cleveland Hall in the next several weeks. This work will consist of providing new wireways, wiring, and fire alarm devices throughout the building. It is important that all course/quota changes be received from academic departments in the Registrar's Office by noon today if they are to be input before registration ends. Hand-delivered forms should be given directly to staff at the front counter and not placed in the drop slot.

Students should check their schedules in SABRE today. If a student is attending a class that does not show on SABRE, the student must add the class by 8:00 p.m. today. Students should not wait until the last minute to finish registration changes, in case they encounter PC or network problems. Drops after 8:00 p.m. today will be withdrawals and must be done via the Withdrawal from Course form.

New Burchfield-Penney Art Center Building Partially Funded

Posted:

We are pleased to report that the Governor’s Office has allocated $16.5 million toward the construction of the new Burchfield-Penney Art Center museum building.

The museum, designed by the firm Gwathmey Siegel & Associates Architects, will be located at the corner of Elmwood Avenue and Rockwell Road on a 4.3-acre parcel acquired several years ago for this purpose. The facility will be a mixed-use building that will support academic programs such as art conservation, museum studies, fine arts, and art education as well as house the Burchfield-Penney Art Center.

The H. H. Richardson property also received an allocation. The governor will appoint an advisory group to work with the college on the future use of those landmark buildings and the Olmsted-designed site.

We anticipate that construction of the museum will commence this summer.
