The Newman Center will display a painting by Henry Schmidt, a prominent local artist, titled "Christ: A Point of View" February 10–March 23, during the season of Lent. Schmidt will be present on Wednesday, February 17, at 7:00 p.m. for a wine-and-cheese gallery talk about this work, an oil and charcoal on canvas, as well as some of his other paintings and sculptures, including the American Civil War Memorial at the Naval and Military Park in Buffalo. All are welcome to join us for an interactive experience.

Students are welcome to join us on Monday evenings at 6:00 for our weekly Bible study. Student leaders take turns leading a deeper look into the week’s Gospel readings. A simple meal will be provided. All are welcome!

All students are invited to attend our free weekly home-cooked Thursday-night dinners. We begin serving at 6:30 p.m. Students are welcome to hang out for a game of pool, watch TV on our big screen, or just relax with friends. The Newman Center is located at 1219 Elmwood Avenue. Weigel Health Promotions will host a One Love Foundation workshop featuring the short film "Escalation," followed by a discussion about domestic violence and relationship abuse, on Wednesday, February 10, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in Bacon Hall 115.

One Love is an organization dedicated to the memory of Yeardley Love, a University of Virginia college student who was killed by her ex-boyfriend. Relationship abuse will affect one in three women and one in four men throughout their lifetimes, with a higher incidence during the teenage and young adult years. Learn the warning signs of this type of violence and get resources on how to help yourself or anyone you know who might be afflicted.
