Buffalo State is a college with a heart. Each day, Buffalo State makes a difference in the lives of others through the unselfish actions and caring attitudes of our community. As part of the Buffalo State Cares campaign to raise awareness of mental health and wellness, reduce stigma, prevent suicide, and enhance our community, the Counseling Center is seeking nominations for the third annual UPstander Award.
An UPstander is a person who takes the time to help another person. He or she might step up or speak up when noticing a distressing, unfair, or potentially dangerous situation. It takes courage to be an UPstander instead of a bystander, and we would like to recognize our hidden heroes.
Do you know a student, staff, or faculty member who has spoken up on anothers behalf to empower that person, for example, when witnessing bullying? Do you know someone who contributes to the campus welfare by their actions? Someone who has gone beyond their role to help someone? Someone who recognized someone elses distress and acted to get appropriate help? Someone who did or said something to provide comfort and support?
Please do your part to let us know about the many special people we have here on campus. All nominations will be reviewed by a committee, and awardees will be recognized at this years Take Back the Night event on Wednesday, April 13, at 6:30 p.m. in n Rockwell Hall.
Please use the online form for all nominations. Thank you.

EVERGREEN will be collecting eyeglasses and sunglasses during the month of April. Drop boxes will be located at the information desks in the Campbell Student Union and Butler Library. Glasses can also be sent through campus mail to EVERGREEN, Moore Hall 124.
By donating your glasses you are helping people with eyesight difficulties worldwide. With the price of glasses exceeding three months' average salary in some African countries, donated eyeglasses are the only feasible way to bring sight to many visually impaired.
Thank you for your help.
