Annual Thanksgiving Dessert Fundraiser: Alternative Break

Posted:

The Alternative Break student leadership team is hosting its annual Thanksgiving Dessert Fundraiser. Alternative Break is a student-led program in the Volunteer and Service-Learning Center that engages students in direct service alongside community nonprofit organizations, education surrounding social justice and social issues, and critical reflection.

This year the student leadership team is offering pies and breads to help you and your loved ones celebrate Thanksgiving. Choose from homemade apple, pumpkin, cranberry-orange, and chocolate-peanut butter pies. This year we are also offering chocolate-pumpkin swirl and cranberry swirl dessert breads in your choice of loaf size.

Please submit your order by Wednesday, November 9, for a November 21 delivery date. Pricing, ingredient details, and the order form can be found on the VSLC website. All proceeds will go toward offsetting students' travel, housing, and meal costs associated with their participation in an alternative break trip.

Thank you for your support.

Socktober for Needy Soles

Posted:

Buffalo State’s Student Philanthropy Council (PCP) partnered with the Roteract Club to raise funds for Socktober on Thursday, October 20, in the Campbell Student Union during Bengal Pause. Socktober is a sock drive sponsored by Steven’s Kindness Club to collect new warm socks during the month of October for the needy “soles” of Western New York. Members of the campus community were encouraged to donate $1. SPC raised more than enough to donate over 50 pairs of socks to those in need this winter.

Winters can be harsh. Warm feet make a difference. Thank you to all who stopped by to celebrate Socktober and donated to a great cause! For more information on Socktober, please contact Gail Daniels, director of Steven’s Kindness Club and director of college partnership development, Institute for Community Health Promotion, 878-4816.
