Please visit Butler Library's featured display for the month of November, created by the Buffalo State Native American Students Organization. The display contains books from the library's collection as well as items from the personal collections of the organizers of the display. Horizon Health Services Therapy Dog Workshop: November 16

Weigel Health Promotions will host a therapy dog workshop through Horizon Health Services on Wednesday, November 16, at 1:00 p.m. in Bacon Hall 211.

Therapy dogs are a great way to relieve stress during some of the most difficult and stressful parts of the semester. They are capable of much more than you might think, so come and learn about all that our working four-legged friends have to offer.

A therapy dog will be present to pet throughout the program.

Holiday Happenings at the Performing Arts Center

A number of family-friendly holiday events will take place at the Performing Arts Center during the month of December.

Buffalo Opera Unlimited presents its production of Hansel and Gretel on Friday, December 2, at 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, December 4, at 2:30 p.m. Based on the Brothers Grimm classic, this beloved fairy tale whips together frothy folk tunes with sumptuous orchestration into a deceptively sweet, deliciously dark confection that has delighted families for generations. Buffalo Opera Unlimited’s production of Engelbert Humperdinck’s enduring masterpiece is appropriate for grown-ups and children. The production features a live orchestra, under the direction of Tim Kennedy. Gingerbread cookies will be available for everyone in the audience to take home.

The Buffalo State Music Department presents its annual Winter Choral Spectacular on Thursday, December 8, at 7:30 p.m. The concert features the Buffalo State Chamber Choir, under the direction of Vicky Furby, and the Buffalo State Chorale, under the direction of John Fleischman, with special guests the ABC Bel Canto Choir.

Christmas with The Celtic Tenors features the most successful classical crossover artists ever to emerge from Ireland. The Celtic Tenors live show on Saturday, December 17, at 8:00 p.m. will be overflowing with vitality and variety from start to finish. The unique voices, appeal, and wit of Daryl, James, and Matthew provide a thoroughly uplifting experience. In Christmas with The Celtic Tenors, the group's voices and personalities will shine, alongside their undeniable Celtic charm, beautifully weaving the songs of the season throughout a captivating performance.

Winter Item Collection for Friends of Night People: November 10-22

The Buffalo State student chapter of the Club Managers Association of America is collecting new and gently used sleeping bags, back packs, and warm clothing to donate to Friends of Night People. In addition, the shelter is always looking for toiletries such as deodorant, shampoo, and toothpaste. Our central collection location is Campus House (campus map; PDF, 3.0 MB). You may also request to have your items picked up. Collection begins today and ends Tuesday, November 22.

'Warm Hearts...Toasty Toes' Sock Drive: November 10-December 10

The Buffalo State Liberty Partnerships Program will sponsor its second annual Warm Hearts…Toasty Toes sock drive, collecting new socks across campus from Thursday, November 10, until Saturday, December 10.

Socks are the least donated but most urgently needed item for the homeless population. Socks for men, women, and children will be distributed to the Buffalo City Mission and Compass House Emergency Shelter. All donations will be greatly appreciated.

Collection boxes will be located in the following locations on campus:
