The deadline for submissions is Friday, August 5, in keeping with the Senate bylaws, which mandate that committee chairs establish committee membership by the start of the fall semester. The forms will allow a collective list of interested individuals to be sent to Senate committee chairs for review before the first Senate meeting.

Standing committee chairs reserve the right to determine committee membership and make all membership decisions. Not all standing committees may need members. Please submit completed forms to Vincent Masci, assistant to the Senate, in the College Senate Office, Cleveland Hall 211. Pre-Employment Background Screening

Posted:

Buffalo State is committed to maintaining a safe environment for its faculty, staff, students, volunteers, and others who use our facilities; therefore, the college will perform pre-employment background checks on final applicants prior to all new appointments (part time and full time) for faculty, professional staff, classified staff, and graduate assistants. For this purpose, a new appointment is defined as one that requires completion of an I-9 Form.

An offer of employment is contingent on the positive outcome of the background investigation. The background investigation will include verification of identification, educational credentials, criminal conviction verification, sexual offender registry status, employment background, and driving records (when deemed related to employment). Failure of an applicant to sign the authorization release form will disqualify the applicant from further consideration for appointment.

Any verbal or written employment offer extended to an applicant on or after January 1, 2017, is subject to a pre-employment background investigation.

Any written or verbal communications with an applicant regarding a potential hire must emphasize that the appointment is contingent on the positive outcome of the background investigation and subject to approval by the senior administrator authorized to make personnel appointments.

Over the next several months we will be modifying our website and the applicant tracking system. Classified, professional, faculty, and graduate assistant job postings will include the statement "All applicants are subject to a pre-employment background investigation."

The college's Pre-Employment Background Screening policy and forms are available on the Human Resource Management website. If you have questions, please call Human Resource Management at 878-4822.
