NYSHIP Dependent Eligibility Verification Project: Deadline Tomorrow

Posted:

The deadline to submit documentation for the New York State Health Insurance Program (NYSHIP) Dependent Eligibility Verification Project is tomorrow, September 7. As previously announced, NYSHIP is conducting a Dependent Eligibility Verification Audit to help ensure that every participant who receives benefits is entitled to them. Targeted participants include those who are enrolled in a NYSHIP-sponsored plan (Empire Plan, one of the offered HMOs, or Opt Out) who insure or cover a dependent (i.e., spouse, child, etc.). Required documentation for any covered dependents must be received by September 7.

Enrollees with family coverage should have received a home mailing from HMS Employer Solutions that includes a cover letter and verification form explaining required documentation of eligibility for their dependents covered under NYSHIP.

The verification form together with copies of all required documents is to be submitted to HMS Employer Solutions. These forms are not to be submitted to Human Resource Management or to the NYS Department of Civil Service. For fastest processing, please submit required documents by uploading them via the web portal or by faxing them to (877) 223-8478. If web and fax are unavailable to you, documents may be mailed to HMS Employer Solutions, P.O. Box 165308, Irving, TX 75016-9923. Please do not mail original documents. If you have any questions, please call HMS (866) 252-0635 from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time, Monday through Friday.

It is imperative that enrollees respond and provide copies of acceptable proof of eligibility (such as birth certificates or marriage certificates and proof of inter-financial dependence) by tomorrow's deadline. Dependents of enrollees who fail to respond will be removed from coverage retroactively to January 1, 2016. In addition, enrollees may be responsible for repaying all health insurance claims for ineligible dependents as early as the date the dependent became ineligible.

Deadline Extended: NEH Summer Stipends - August 31

Posted:

From the Dean of the School of Arts and Humanities
The Buffalo State NEH Summer Stipend proposal deadline has been extended to Wednesday, August 31.

If you plan to submit a proposal, please notify Ben Christy, dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, via e-mail immediately. Proposals are due to Dean Christy by Wednesday, August 31, 2016. Buffalo State applicants will be informed of their nomination status by Friday, September 16. Nominees are to submit their applications via Grants.gov. by September 29. More information is available on the NEH website. Please direct questions to Dean Christy, 878-6326.

-----------------------------------------------------------

The National Endowment for the Humanities invites applications for 2017 Summer Stipends to support individuals pursuing advanced research that is of value to humanities scholars, general audiences, or both. Summer Stipends support continuous full-time work on a humanities project for a period of two consecutive months. Eligible projects usually result in articles, monographs, books, digital materials, archaeological site reports, translations, editions, or other scholarly resources. Summer Stipends support projects at any stage of development.

Summer Stipends are awarded to individual scholars. Organizations are not eligible to apply.

The NEH encourages the submission of applications from independent scholars and faculty members at Hispanic-serving institutions, historically black colleges and universities, and tribal colleges and universities.

Nominating Procedures and Timetable
Faculty members teaching full time at colleges or universities must be nominated by their institution’s nominating official to apply for a Summer Stipend. Each college and university in the United States and its jurisdictions may nominate two faculty members. Any faculty member is eligible for nomination. Ben Christy, dean of the School of Arts and Humanities, will serve as Buffalo State’s nominating official. The academic deans will appoint a faculty committee to review proposals and recommend two nominees.
