The Buffalo State community is saddened by the death of James B. Aikman, professor emeritus of technology, who died April 4, 2016.
Mr. Aikman is survived by two children. A funeral service was held on Wednesday, April 13. Additional information is available online.
From the Chair of the College Senate
The final meeting of the College Senate for the spring 2016 semester will be held Friday, May 6, at 2:00 p.m. in Butler Library 210. The meeting is one week earlier and one hour earlier than usual. The Senate caucus will also be held on May 6, from noon to 1:30 p.m., before the Senate meeting. Officers of the Senate are elected for the 20162017 academic year at the caucus. The May 6 meeting agenda will be posted on the College Senate website on April 28.

At our April 8, 2016, meeting, the College Senate voted on three motions: a broad-based fee, J-Term credit limits, and leaves of absence. We also adopted a new calendar policy, discussed recommendations for retention and advisement initiatives, and introduced a new Buffalo State College Creed. The Senate also unanimously endorsed the elements of the Community-Oriented Policing Philosophy and asks each member of the Buffalo State community to read and support the strategies within to help keep Buffalo State a safe and pleasant environment.

Today is the final day to vote in the College Senate elections to fill one at-large senator position for faculty, one at-large senator position for professional staff or faculty, one University Faculty senator position, and one alternative University Faculty senator position.
The College Senate Bylaws and Elections Committee will again use an electronic voting system supplemented by paper ballots to conduct the elections. All elections are for three-year terms. Voting began at 12:01 a.m. Monday, April 18, and continues until 11:59 p.m. today, Friday, April 29.
Our primary goals are to encourage participation in the shared governance of Buffalo State and to share information on each candidate. If you have not already visited the College Senates elections information site to review the candidates qualifications, please do so.
