College Senate Meeting, Caucus: Tomorrow

From the Chair of the College Senate
The final meeting of the College Senate for the 2015–2016 academic year will be held tomorrow, May 6, at 2:00 p.m. in Butler Library 210. The meeting is one week earlier and one hour earlier than usual. This month, among other things, the Senate will hear from the president on enrollment, facilities, budget, and retention. We will vote on a policy for outsourcing credits, a CEP policy revision, and a distance education policy revision, as well as review a policy on involuntary leave. We will also discuss the Strategic Plan draft provided this week by the provost and hear year-end reports from each committee. Please feel free to attend our last meeting of the year. The agenda is posted on the College Senate website.

The Senate caucus will also be held tomorrow, from noon to 1:30 p.m., before the Senate meeting. Officers of the Senate for the 2016–2017 academic year will be elected at the caucus.

In Memoriam: Joaquin J. 'Jack' Cardoso

The Buffalo State community is saddened by the death of Joaquin J. "Jack" Cardoso, professor emeritus of history and social studies, who died April 24, 2016. He is survived by his wife and three children.

Services will be held Thursday, April 28. Additional information is available online.

Submit Textbook Adoptions for Fall Semester

At the April 8 College Senate meeting, staff members from the Barnes & Noble at Buffalo State Bookstore explained the negative impacts that late book adoptions have on textbook affordability and students success. Students save money when faculty members adopt their textbooks before finals week. Please see the minutes from the April 8 meeting or read more (PDF, 39KB) on the Senate website. Contact the bookstore for more information, and adopt your textbooks for the fall semester today!
