Undergraduate students no longer need to be full time to obtain approval to participate in SUNY cross-registration nor maintain full-time status at their home college to retain eligibility throughout the semester. Graduate students no longer need to be enrolled in at least one course at the home college to obtain approval to participate in SUNY cross-registration.

Buffalo State's Whitworth Ferguson Planetarium will host the Great American Eclipse View and Do, a public eclipse-viewing event, on Monday, August 21, from 12:30 to 4:00 p.m. Eclipse View and Do will feature safe viewing of the eclipse through telescopes and other techniques, astronomy-related activities for all ages, information tables from some of our cultural partners, and two food trucks.

Although Buffalo is not in the path of totality, we will still see about 75 percent of the sun covered by the moon. Please remember that it is never safe to view the sun without proper eye protection. Eclipse glasses will be available at Monday's Eclipse View and Do Event.

As announced last week, the Bishop Hall Renovation – Residence Hall Conversion project is now under way. We have been informed that removal of the sidewalk between Bishop Hall and the Campbell Student Union will produce significant noise from Wednesday, August 9, through Friday, August 11. Other noise-generating site work will continue through August 18. Your patience is appreciated.

The Small Business Development Center presents “Survive and Thrive: Essentials for Starting Your Own Business,” a workshop covering all the essential information needed to start a business, on Tuesday, August 22, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the Burchfield Penney Art Center (second floor). Specific topics will include creating a business plan; competition analysis; and tax, legal, and insurance issues. The workshop is free for Buffalo State College faculty, staff, students, and alumni as well as U.S. military veterans and $20 for all others.
