Spring 2018 Electronic Course Evaluations: EvaluationKIT Service Requests

Posted:

All departmental service requests to use EvaluationKIT for spring 2018 course evaluations must be made no later than Thursday, March 15, to guarantee successful deployment. Request a departmental course evaluation deployment through the RITE Self-Service Portal before the deadline.

RITE offers the EvaluationKIT electronic course evaluation platform for the creation of department-level course surveys. This system is an alternative to the use of Scantrons and Blackboard Enterprise Surveys for electronic course evaluations and provides greater efficiency for the deployment, collection, and analysis of course evaluations across the institution.

EvaluationKIT offers a fully hosted online course evaluation and survey system designed to streamline the entire student feedback process for our campus.

Register for a session through the Workshop Registration System to learn more about EvaluationKIT and participate in a question-and-answer session.

Faculty Lecture: 'The Amazing Constants of the Universe' - February 22

Posted:

Please join the Physics Department for the lecture "The Amazing Constants of the Universe" on Thursday, February 22, at 12:30 p.m. in Science and Mathematics Complex 169. The universe is unlikely. Very unlikely. Martin Rees, Britain’s royal astronomer, says that if any of a handful of fundamental constants of the universe were different, “even to the tiniest degree, there would be no stars, no complex elements, no life.” David Ettestad, associate professor of physics, will present these constants and explain why they must be so fine-tuned for life to exist.

Information Security Awareness: Read the Indictment

Posted:

Robert Mueller III’s indictment of 13 Russians for interfering in the 2016 U.S. election is a perfect example of real manifestations of identity theft, fraud, and manipulation. This is social engineering (identity theft, fraud, manipulation) at its finest through the use of technology (networks, servers, social media platforms). It’s not a long document. Share it with your students, your friends, your family. Be aware. Check sources. Don’t get your news from social media. Don’t click on links (of any kind) in social media.

Information Security Awareness - 8Tracks Data Breach

Posted:

In June 2017, the online playlist service known as 8Tracks suffered a data breach that compromised 18 million accounts. Buffalo State received information from haveibeenpwned that at least 52 account holders used their Buffalo State e-mail addresses as their usernames to activate 8Tracks accounts. If you have an account with 8Tracks, please change your password. Never use the same password for multiple accounts. Each account you create should have a unique password.

Check your accounts at https://haveibeenpwned.com/.
