Buffalo State Desktop Emergency Alert Test: March 26

Posted:

Information Technology will test a new desktop emergency alert system, AlertUs, on Tuesday, March 26, at 11:00 a.m. An alert will be sent to all college-owned computing devices connected to the Buffalo State network (wired and wireless), including desktop computers, laptops, and tablets in campus offices, campus labs, and student housing. College-loaned computing devices that are used off campus by faculty or staff members for work-related functions will also receive the alert, provided the device was configured by Buffalo State IT.

What to Expect
At 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, the desktop emergency alert system will launch a window on your computer screen displaying an emergency alert test message. The alert will include a green “Acknowledge” button. Clicking on the “Acknowledge” button will close the window.

Following testing, the AlertUs function will be added as an optional emergency notification method within the Buff State Alert system. Please note: AlertUs does not replace Buff State Alert.

If you experience any issues with your device following Tuesday’s test, please submit a general Software Issue ticket. If you have questions, please contact the IT Help Desk, 878-4357.

Campus Community

Bengal Ally Mixer: April 3

Posted:

The LGBTQ+ Resource Center and the Bengal Allies invite all members of the campus community to the next Bengal Ally Mixer on Wednesday, April 3, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union Fireside Lounge (third floor, just outside the Dean of Students Office). Mixers will be held every first Wednesday of the month all semester long. Join students and other faculty and staff members in a casual, friendly environment with free refreshments and excellent conversation. These mixers are an opportunity for members of the campus's lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, questioning, and ally community to informally meet and strengthen our association and visibility at Buffalo State.

Can’t make this mixer? The next one will be held Wednesday, May 1, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the Fireside Lounge.

To get involved with the Bengal Allies and our full semester of programming, please attend our biweekly meetings in the LGBTQ+ Resource Center, Campbell Student Union 105G. Our next meeting is Monday, April 15, at 1:00 p.m.

Please contact us with questions or suggestions:
LGBTQ+ Resource Center: Sean P. Terry, student activities assistant for evening and weekend life
Bengal Allies: Char Vetter, associate director of the Weigel Wellness Center

Mission Statement
The Buffalo State LGBTQ+ Resource Center provides a safe, inclusive, and celebratory environment for LGBTQ students, faculty, and staff. We seek to provide members of our campus community with resources that will support and affirm each individual’s process of self-discovery and identity development and facilitate connections between our campus and the Buffalo community. The LGBTQ+ Resource Center provides access to informative media, training, professional development, and advocacy.
