Purchase Requisition Deadlines for the End of the Fiscal Year

Posted:

Purchase requisitions for supplies, materials, services, office supplies, and equipment from fiscal year 2018–2019 funds must be received in the Procurement Office by the close of business on the following dates:

Furniture orders (all)
Monday, April 8, 2019

Software orders
Monday, April 8, 2019

Office supply orders
Monday, June 3, 2019

All other orders requiring a purchase requisition
Wednesday, May 1, 2019

To make ordering at the end of fiscal year a smooth process for everyone, please plan departmental needs as far in advance as possible to ensure that orders for goods and services are placed before the cutoff dates. Submitting requisitions well before the cutoff dates will give Procurement Services the time it needs to place orders before the deadlines.

It is the responsibility of departments to ensure that all requisitions for fiscal year 2018–2019 are received in the Procurement Office by 4:00 p.m. on the above deadline dates. Requests received after the deadlines will be held until the start of the next fiscal year.

Important note regarding Procurement Cards (P-Cards): P-Cards may continue to be used throughout the transition period without interruption. Departments may still use P-Cards for authorized purchases during this time.

Please contact Bonnie Heim, director of non-contract procurement, 878-4113, with questions about P-Cards or for information on how to obtain a P-Card.

Please call the Procurement Office at 878-4113 with general questions.

Professional Development Workshop - 'Fostering Institutional Collaboration: Mastering the Skills You Need to Successfully Collaborate' - April 18

Posted:

Please join us for the professional development workshop "Fostering Institutional Collaboration: Mastering the Skills You Need to Successfully Collaborate,” presented by Jonathan Hulbert, director of leadership and organizational development, and Todd Benzin, educational technology specialist, on Thursday, April 18, from 9:00 a.m. to noon in Chase Hall 109.

Within institutions of higher education, invisible (and sometimes visible) boundaries between units and people are organically created based on rank, class, seniority, authority, power, expertise, and function. We unintentionally create these buffers or boundaries to protect our job duties and the responsibilities of our units from outside influences and demands; however, to effectively meet institutional goals and compete in the volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous higher education market, it is imperative that all stakeholders work together across these boundaries to address institutional, divisional, and departmental challenges that cannot be solved in organizational silos. This workshop is for staff, faculty, and administrators who want to improve how they collaborate with others or different units.

During this workshop, participants will learn how to do the following:

  • Create a safe environment for collaboration
  • Develop the skills to effectively collaborate
  • Identify how to manage collaborative projects with other units, colleagues, or institutional stakeholders
  • Identify campus technology tools that can make collaboration easy, effective, and productive

One-on-one collaboration using campus technology training sessions will be offered by Todd Benzin upon request.

Light snacks will be provided. Please register through the Workshop Registration System.

Professional Development Workshop: 'Nourishing Your Personal and Professional Selves in a Changing Workplace' - April 2

Posted:

Please join us for the professional development workshop "Nourishing Your Personal and Professional Selves in a Changing Workplace," presented by Margaret W. Sallee, associate professor of educational leadership and policy in the University at Buffalo's Graduate School of Education, on Tuesday, April 2, from noon to 2:00 p.m. in Chase Hall 109.

The ever-changing workplace often places significant demands on its employees, which may have an impact on both their work and home lives. Too often, discussions of work-life issues focus on just one side of the coin: work or life; however, the two domains are never really separate. Individuals are more likely to thrive when paying attention to both their personal and professional needs and selves. This workshop will give participants the opportunity to think through how to (re)discover and (re)create value in their professional work and relationships while also offering strategies for navigating the multiple demands that arise from personal roles.

By the end of this workshop, participants should be able to do the following:

  • Articulate how organizational context affects both work and home responsibilities
  • Identify tools they can use to find value in their professional work
  • Generate strategies to creatively leverage both individual and institutional resources to support their personal lives

Light snacks will be provided. Please register through the Workshop Registration System.

Spring 2019 Open House

Posted:

The Admissions Office will host its Spring Open House on Saturday, April 6, from 9:15 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This program is designed to highlight Buffalo State’s academic departments, student services, and campus life for all accepted students. We have also created a short video for the event.

Visitors will gather in the Performing Arts Center at Rockwell Hall for a welcome at 9:15 a.m.  Campus programming will begin at 9:45 a.m. and continue until 1:00 p.m.

Students and families can choose from a wide range of programs at Open House. Academic departments will present individually to those students who are specifically interested in their major programs. Tours of the campus, athletic facilities, library, and residence halls will give students an opportunity to envision life on campus. Representatives from Financial Aid and Admissions will be available to meet with students one on one. There will also be an “Excelsior Scholarship” presentation, which will contain general information about the program, and a “Your Best Choice” presentation for students who are still deciding what they would like to study. Student services offices and student groups will meet with visitors in the Campbell Student Union.

If you know anyone who is interested in attending Buffalo State, feel free to extend an invitation to Open House. Registration is available online.

Please contact Tom Karanas, admissions adviser, with questions.
