Tell Students: Apply Online for an Absentee Ballot

New York State is now allowing all registered voters to apply for an absentee ballot online. Members of the Buffalo State College community can access the Board of Elections online portal through the Civic and Community Engagement Office’s website. We’ve also developed a short video to walk students through the questions that appear on the online form.

Resources to Support Student Voting

The Civic and Community Engagement Office is working this fall to register, educate, and mobilize voters in advance of the general election this November.

Here are some resources you can share with your students or incorporate into your classes or on Blackboard:

Additionally, members of the campus community can safety pick up and drop off the following paper forms in the Civic and Community Engagement Office, South Wing 130. A member of the CCE staff will drop off Voter Registration Forms and Absentee Ballot Applications to the Erie County Board of Elections throughout the semester.

  • Voter Registration Forms – To vote in the November 3, 2020, election, the deadline to drop off at the Civic and Community Engagement Office is Thursday, October 8, at 5:00 p.m.
  • Absentee Ballot Application – To request an absentee ballot, complete the absentee ballot application. The deadline to drop off the application to the Civic and Community Engagement Office is Monday, October 26, at 5:00 p.m.

High Scores on NSSE Student Engagement

Results from Buffalo State College’s 2020 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) show the college scored extremely well on nearly all 10 engagement indicators among both first-year students and seniors. Our three comparison groups include 18 Mid-East public institutions, 23 New York public institutions, and 11 SUNY colleges. Among first-year students, Buffalo State equaled or surpassed these groups on 29 of 30 points of comparison. Among seniors, Buffalo State equaled or surpassed these groups on 28 of 30 points of comparison. The NSSE Engagement Report is available on the Institutional Effectiveness website

Tell Students: Math Center Virtual Tutoring Starts September 8

The Math Center will offer virtual tutoring starting Tuesday, September 8. Sign up today!

Free math tutoring is available Monday through Friday to all students through the Math Center. Experienced tutors as well as instructors will be available to assist students with any math-related material. Whether it’s working through homework assignments together, clarifying a section of notes or the textbook, or preparing for a unit test or final assessment, we’ll be here to help! All students are encouraged to take advantage of this valuable free resource.

Schedule an appointment through the Bengal Success Portal. Click on "My Success Network," find the Math Center tile under "Services," and choose the day and time that is most convenient for you. Hours of operation and additional information can be found on our website.
