High-Impact Practices: 2020 NSSE Shows Buffalo State Excelling

Posted:

Results from the spring 2020 National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) show that Buffalo State College students are more likely to engage in high-impact practices (HIPs) than are students at institutions in our comparison groups. HIPs include service learning, learning communities, research with faculty, internships, field experiences, study abroad, and culminating senior experiences. Among first-year students, Buffalo State scored higher on all 15 points of comparison. Buffalo State seniors scored higher on 16 of 24 points of comparison. Our three comparison groups include 18 mid-East public institutions, 23 New York public institutions, and 11 SUNY colleges. The 2020 NSSE HIP Report (PDF, 149 KB) is available on the Institutional Effectiveness website.
