MCL 110 Introduction to French Cinema. Introduction to the history, key movements, directors, cinematographers, films, and actors of the French cinema, as well as the social and literary conditions that shaped and informed them, from the nineteenth century to the post-WWII era. Taught in English. Offered annually.

Course Revisions:
AED 319 Art for Elementary and Exceptional Education Teachers. Foundational knowledge of children’s development in relation to art from pre-K through middle school; theories and approaches to provision of art experiences in non-arts classrooms including arts integration and cross-curricular connections; introductory skills in art media and processes. Offered annually.

AED 519 Art in the Elementary and Exceptional Education Classroom. Relationships between children’s art and development from pre-K through middle school; contemporary theory for teaching art in non-arts classrooms including arts integration and supporting Common Core Standards; increased skills in art media and processes. Offered annually.

PSY 392 Abnormal Psychology. Prerequisites: PSY 101 with a minimum grade of C and 3 additional credit hours in psychology. Psychopathology from a biopsychosocial perspective, exploring research and theory. Concepts of abnormality, classification, assessment, and treatment of psychopathology; the etiology and characteristics of selected disorders.

PSY 393 Abnormal Child Psychology. Prerequisites: PSY 101 with a minimum grade of C and 3 additional credit hours in psychology. Significant issues and problems related to child psychopathology. Diagnosis, assessment, and treatment of childhood disorders, including ADHD, autism spectrum disorders, depression, conduct disorder, eating disorders, intellectual disability, and learning disabilities.

Course Revision with Intellectual Foundations Designation:
WESTERN CIVILIZATION
THA 332 Period Styles for the Theater. Prerequisite: Junior or senior standing. Survey of period style from ancient Egypt to the present. Identification and analysis of recurring visual themes in architecture, decor, and fashion from various viewpoints. Evaluation of historical roots and contemporary evolution. Examination and evaluation of translations to the stage or screen through period style identification. Offered annually.

Course Revision:
EDU 682 Teaching Elementary School Mathematics. Prerequisites: EDU 501; EDU 546 or EDU 513. Mathematics curriculum course for elementary teachers. Students participate in elementary classroom practice, exploring in-depth curricular, theoretical, and practical education frameworks. Students plan, implement, and evaluate mathematics lessons incorporating the state and national standards for mathematics; explore science and technology; practice and evaluate assessment tools and processes; become reflective practitioners; and demonstrate effective techniques for instructional organization in an elementary school. Students complete an action research project on a selected topic in elementary mathematics.

Curricular Proposals: New Process and Deadlines

The College Senate Curriculum Committee has concluded its fall review process for all course, program, and certificate programs that have been submitted to the Senate Office. Proposals received after December 5 will be reviewed during the spring semester. Proposals may be submitted during the winter break but will not be reviewed until spring 2017. Proposal reviews will resume for spring 2017 on February 28.

Please continue to check the curricular announcements in the Daily Bulletin on Thursdays to see when proposals have been received, reviewed, and forwarded to the president. Please remember that any course or program challenges must be received by the College Senate Curriculum Committee chair within 15 days of initial publication of the course or program in the Daily Bulletin.

Please remember that all proposals must now be submitted via KissFlow by the 15th of each month. The College Senate Office will log and forward all submissions received by the 15th to the Curriculum Committee for review. Associate deans can provide guidance on this new process. Any proposals not submitted through KissFlow will not be accepted unless previous arrangements have been made between the curricular chair and the respective associate dean. All programs and credit-bearing certificates must meet SUNY mandates.

As part of the new curricular process, all associate deans must submit curricular proposals to the College Senate Office via KissFlow by the 15th of each month. The College Senate Office will log and forward all submissions received by the 15th to the Curriculum Committee for review. Proposals received after the 15th will be reviewed the following month.

Please continue to check the curricular announcements in the Daily Bulletin on Thursdays to see when proposals have been received, reviewed, and forwarded to the president. Please remember that any course or program challenges must be received by the College Senate Curriculum Committee chair within 15 days of initial publication of the course or program in the Daily Bulletin.

All proposals must be submitted via KissFlow. Associate deans can provide guidance on this new process. CNS 600 Examination and Documentation I. Corequisite: CNS 601. Methods and techniques used to determine and document the condition of artifacts in visible light using continuous and electronic flash light sources. Development of theoretical understanding and advanced practical skills in scientific photography, conservation photodocumentation, and studio photography. Development of advanced skills in digital photography using DSLR cameras and emphasizing precision, standardization, consistency, and color accuracy. Offered annually.

CNS 601 Examination and Documentation I Lab. Corequisite: CNS 600. Laboratory component of CNS 600. Supervised applied practice in visual examination with visible lights; digital conservation photodocumentation of paintings, paper, and objects using DSLR cameras; specialized conservation and studio lighting techniques; close-up photography and photomacrography. Emphasis on individual supervision for the rapid development of skills sufficient for independent mastery of techniques presented. Offered annually.

CNS 602 Examination and Documentation II. Prerequisites: CNS 600 and 601. Corequisite: CNS 603. Ultraviolet, infrared, and other specialized techniques used to examine and document the structure and condition of artworks and cultural artifacts using visible and nonvisible radiations; emphasizes theoretical understanding and development of advanced practical skills using digital cameras and electronic imagers. Offered annually.

CNS 603 Examination and Documentation II Lab. Prerequisites: CNS 600 and 601. Corequisite: CNS 602. Laboratory component of CNS 602. Supervised applied practice in ultraviolet examination and digital photodocumentation (reflected UV and UV induced fluorescence methods); infrared examination and digital photodocumentation using digital cameras and infrared imagers; other special examination and imaging techniques. Emphasis on individual supervision for the rapid development of skills sufficient for independent mastery of techniques presented. Offered annually.

CNS 604 Examination and Documentation III. Prerequisites: CNS 602 and 603. Corequisite: CNS 605. Time-Lapse photography: theory and practice of effective approach to document treatment in progress. Multispectral imaging: theory, application, practice, and critical assessment. Documentation in action: practice and critical evaluation of effective use of various cameras in treatment laboratories. Radiographic techniques: history and basic physics of x-rays and radioactive materials; theoretical study and advanced practice in applying various digital radiographic techniques for museum artifacts; radiation safety. Offered annually.

CNS 605 Examination and Documentation III Lab. Prerequisites: CNS 602 and 603. Corequisite: CNS 604. Laboratory component of CNS 604. Applied practice in use of flatbed and film scanners; profiling of digital cameras, scanners, monitors, and printers; film-based and computed radiography of museum artifacts; Adobe Photoshop restoration techniques; use of color temperature meters. Emphasis on individual supervision for the rapid development of skills sufficient for independent mastery of techniques presented. Offered annually.

CNS 606 Examination and Documentation IV. Prerequisites: CNS 604 and 605. Corequisite: CNS 607. Advanced studies in examination and documentation and in radiography, ultraviolet, infrared, and other imaging techniques appropriate to a student’s areas of conservation specialization and to his or her specialization research project. Application of computed imaging methods, including reflectance transformation imaging, stereoscopy, and photogrammetry. Emphasis on individual supervision for the rapid development of skills sufficient for independent mastery of all examination and documentation techniques presented. Offered annually.

CNS 607 Examination and Documentation IV Lab. Prerequisites: CNS 604 and 605. Corequisite: CNS 606. Laboratory component of CNS 606. Supervised applied practice in examination and documentation and in radiography, ultraviolet, infrared, and other imaging techniques appropriate to a student’s areas of conservation specialization and to his or her specialization project. Supervised practice with reflectance transformation imaging, 3-D imaging, and video documentation. Emphasis on individual supervision for the rapid development of skills sufficient for independent mastery of techniques presented. Offered annually.

THA 226 Acting I. Prerequisite: Instructor permission. Introduction to the fundamental demands of the acting process. Student actors engage in focus and concentration development, improvisation, scene work, and performance as they identify and develop themselves in the artistic process of acting. This course can be supportive for many fields. Offered each fall and spring semester.
