Tell Students: Bengal 2 Bengal Support Fund

Posted:

Buffalo State College is proud to support its current emergency fund with an additional support fund that is open to all Buffalo State students who are in good standing and financial aid eligible. This fund is to help students facing emergency situations in the short term to help them graduate from college in the long term.

The grant (up to $2,000 maximum) cannot be used to cover costs of tuition, fees, credit card debt, cable bills, or legal representation. The emergency must be an unforeseen event and an unexpected need for funds; it cannot be a chronic problem or anticipated expense. The fund may be used for technology hardware or software needed for academic coursework; books or other materials needed for coursework; unforeseen medical expenses for the student or dependent children not covered by insurance; or other emergency needs to ensure the student stays in housing, to pay for utilities, a crisis that requires travel home, protection from domestic violence, or other immediate crisis.

The fund will be administered by the Dean of Students Office. Students can apply once a year (January 1–December 31) while classes are in session. Applications can be made only during the fall or spring semester. At least one Zoom meeting with the student is required as part of the application process.

For more information, please visit the Bengal 2 Bengal Support Fund application form.

Register for the Buffalo State Spring 2021 Challenge: March 1-May 2

Posted:

The Professional Development Center, Instructional Design and Training Department, and the Teaching and Learning Center invite you to register for the Buffalo State Spring 2021 Challenge. As we look back at this past year and how our lives have changed, we hope this challenge encourages you to step outside of your "day to day" routine and take some time for yourself, your neighbor, and your community and do something you have never done or may not have been able to make time for in the past. The challenge will run from today, March 1, through Sunday, May 2. Please complete at least 10 activities from the list on the flier. While taking part in each activity, please take a picture to capture the activity. Then submit these pictures either throughout the course of the challenge, or all at once, no later than midnight Sunday, May 2. As an option, we encourage you to post your pictures on social media and tag with #BuffStateChallenge.

If you have any questions, please e-mail Rebecca Eggleston, staff assistant in the Professional Development Center.
