Reminder: Student Accessibility Testing Center

Posted:

Student Accessibility Services (SAS) would like to thank all the faculty members who have continued to work to ensure that students with disabilities receive appropriate accommodations in this challenging time of remote learning. As a gentle reminder, the SAS testing center continues to have limited capacity due to social distancing. Many faculty members have used online testing to provide students testing accommodations. Alternatively, for those classes that are on campus, faculty members have successfully worked out individualized solutions by e-mailing exams@buffalostate.edu and working directly with Andrea Gustafson, our staff member in charge of testing. Please be mindful that SAS, like most areas of campus, is conducting many of its operations remotely, and we ask that no tests, exams, quizzes, or other assessments be dropped off at the SAS office unless you have confirmed that someone will be there to receive them.

Again, thank you for your continued support and dedication to ensuring access for our students.

Iroquois Drive Temporary Road Closure Begins March 15: Parking Lots Remain Open

Posted:

Reconstruction of Iroquois Drive between Elmwood Avenue and Lot I-34 will resume Monday, March 15. Renovations will continue through July. Drivers who use Iroquois Drive are asked to avoid the construction area by entering the campus at the Coyer Entrance, accessible from Grant Street.

When through traffic on Iroquois Drive cannot be maintained, drivers will be directed to use Rockwell Road. A two-way detour to Rockwell Road has been posted.

While parking lots along Iroquois Drive will remain open during this time, lots I-30, I-31, I-32, and I-33 will experience limited, short-term closures to accommodate construction operations. Construction crews and flag personnel will direct traffic when this occurs.

Campus map (PDF, 4.3 MB)

The Iroquois Drive reconstruction project is replacing the deteriorated roadway and drainage system. It will provide additional sidewalks for pedestrian use, high-visibility crosswalks, and LED site lighting.

Thank you for your patience as this important construction project continues. Questions may be e-mailed to vpfm@buffalostate.edu.

Collaborative Efforts to Enhance Student Success and Retention

Posted:

Faculty members, thank you for your efforts in submitting the 2021 spring Student Progress Reports. Sixty-four percent of the surveys were submitted, the highest completion rate we have had since the inception of the Bengal Success Portal. This will spearhead the work of our support staff in many areas across the college. Our goal for the 2021 fall Student Progress Reports is a completion rate of 75 percent.

The outreach and advisement to students over the next few weeks will be pivotal to their success and retention for the fall semester.

The new Retention website is in its final stages and will provide clarity and insight regarding persistence and retention data, retention initiatives and efforts, spotlights of retention successes, activities under the Title III grant, and other valuable information.

Please direct any questions or comments regarding the Bengal Success Portal or the Retention website to Gabriel Marshall, assistant vice president and senior adviser for student success and retention.
