Campus Compact Webinar - 'Exploring Core Commitments and Building Blocks of Civic Identity: A Conversation' - February 10

Posted:

Please join the Civic and Community Engagement Office for the webinar "Exploring Core Commitments and Building Blocks of Civic Identity: A Conversation," featuring speakers Lauren Etchells, Alexandra Koch, and Thomas Schnaubelt from Stanford University's Haas Center for Public Service, on Thursday, February 10, from 3:00 to 4:00 pm. This event is presented by Campus Compact as part of its National Webinar Series and is free to members of the Buffalo State College community.

The concept of “civic identity” is perhaps intuitive, particularly for people who attend Campus Compact gatherings, but it is not well explored or understood. Colleges and universities are often places where students critically examine and develop greater understanding around a wide range of identities: racial, ethnic, gender, spiritual, political, national, and many others. We develop courses, programs, and support networks that allow students to experiment, explore, and develop greater understanding of individual identities, and how systems of oppression and power and privilege afforded certain identities influence our society. But we rarely take time to define and explore what “civic identity” is, how it is formed, or how it intersects with our other identities.

Please register online for this webinar and any others in the National Webinar Series that may interest you.

The name of Buffalo State's course evaluation software is changing from EvaluationKIT to Watermark Course Evaluations and Surveys (CES) on Thursday, January 13. Department chairs and those with administrative access to course evaluations will now be referred to as CES administrators.

These changes are largely visual in nature and will not affect the functionality, workflows, or URLs of the system; however, please be aware that links in Blackboard, as well as other reference points and materials, will look different.

A detailed overview of the product changes is available on the Watermark website (PDF, 655 KB).

Please contact Tiffany Fuzak, research analyst in Institutional Effectiveness and Planning, (716) 878-4132, with questions or concerns.

Thank you for your patience as we make this transition.
