English Education Alumni Talk: Adam Hernandez, Assistant Principal, Dunkirk City Schools: April 7

Posted:

Please join us for the spring 2022 English Education Alumni Speaker Series featuring Adam Hernandez, M.S. ’16, assistant principal at Dunkirk Secondary School, who will present “Stay in School: Opportunity in Education,” on Thursday, April 7, at 12:15 p.m. in Ketchum Hall 313. Refreshments will be provided.

Mr. Hernandez, who taught English for 12 years before becoming an administrator, will focus on how educators can have a positive impact on students and the world, noting that few other professions provide individuals with such a valuable opportunity on a daily basis. He notes that this opportunity comes with a great deal of responsibility, and teachers must be willing and motivated to embrace this responsibility.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Hernandez taught students in sixth through 12th grade in public, private, and charter schools in Buffalo, the Bronx, Manhattan, and Mount Vernon, New York. Selected as one of the first recipients of the New York State Principal’s Preparation Program Grant, he returned to Western New York in 2021 and began a new chapter in his career as an assistant principal at a secondary school.
