These workshops are designed primarily for students, learning communities, and clubs and organizations to gain new skills and perspectives while helping achieve their goals.

Guidelines for On-Demand Workshops

  • Workshops have a minimum of five participants in attendance
  • Workshops are requested at least two weeks in advance
  • Workshops must be scheduled between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., Monday–Friday
  • SLE must be notified 48 hours in advance of any cancellations

If you are interested in hosting an on-demand workshop, please fill out the workshop request form

Workshops offered for the spring 2023 semester include the following:

Getting Involved: Bengal Connect 101
Bengal Connect provides students with the opportunity to connect with clubs and organizations, learn about campus programs and events taking place on campus, and get involved when attending Buffalo State. An SLE staff member will come to your class or organizational meeting to review Bengal Connect and how to use the program.

Time Management
There are 168 hours each week. With classes, activities, studying, and free time, planning becomes an essential tool to get things done. This workshop will discuss time management, priority management, and goal setting.

Discover Your DiSC Style
DiSC assessments are used in thousands of organizations around the world, from sprawling government agencies and Fortune 500 companies to nonprofits and small businesses. The reason is simple: DiSC profiles help build stronger, more effective working relationships. DiSC will teach participants how to raise self-awareness, improve teamwork, and make conflict more productive. Participants take the DiSC inventory and receive their own unique self-assessment report. The Student Affairs Division has provided all participants access to a free DiSC profile assessment survey.

True Colors
In building relationships with members of your organization or team, you help others connect and recognize how personality plays a role in the overall effectiveness of the team. This interactive workshop will look at ways personality affects relationships and work styles, and provide suggestions for using these tools to create a team that works collaboratively based on individual assets.

Servant Leadership
Servant leadership begins with the natural feeling that one wants to serve others. This conscious choice brings one to aspire to lead and promote the empowerment of others. Students will engage in self-assessment while exploring the 10 characteristics of servant leadership.

Transitioning Student Organization Executive Boards
The process of transitioning officers is one of the most crucial elements for a student organization. Learn about the necessary steps and resources to ensure your new executive board is prepared to take the reins and continue momentum for the year ahead.

Bengal Connect, Corq to Promote Campus Events

Posted:

Campus departments are encouraged to use Bengal Connect to promote their programs and events, and the Corq app to find events and student organizations around campus from their mobile devices.

Bengal Connect
Bengal Connect provides students with the opportunity to connect with campus clubs and organizations, learn about programs and events taking place on campus, and learn how to get involved when attending Buffalo State. Faculty, staff, and students can log in using their Buffalo State user name and password.

More information and resources on how to use Bengal Connect can be found on the Student Leadership and Engagement website.

With more than 50 student organizations on campus, including cultural organizations, club sports, Greek Life, media groups, and more, there are all kinds of ways for students to get involved on campus. If students want to start a new organization, they can register a new student organization through the platform.

The college recognizes that student organizations are an important part of the student experience and complement the college's commitment to the intellectual, personal, and professional growth of its students. All student organizations on Bengal Connect have met the requirements for registration at Buffalo State.

Information and resources on how to use Bengal Connect can be found in the Engage Help Center.

Corq App
The Corq app allows students, staff, faculty, and the community to find events and student organizations around campus from their mobile devices. It is a great tool for finding things to do. You can search by the type of activity you are interested in—the arts, music, athletics, cultural, learning, service, social, spirituality, and more. You can sort events chronologically. You can even find events that offer free food!

The Corq app can be downloaded from the Apple App Store and Google Play.

Video Tutorials and Additional Assistance
Student Leadership and Engagement has created a series of short videos to assist the campus community with how to use the platform.

Please email Student Leadership and Engagement if you need assistance or have questions when using Bengal Connect or Corq. Bengal Connect and Corq are sponsored by United Students Government (USG) and funded by the student activity fee.
