Tell Students: PUSH Buffalo on Campus - February 2

Posted:

PUSH Buffalo will be on campus Thursday, February 2, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. in the Campbell Student Union lobby. PUSH has developed the Movement Leader Institute (MLI), a training opportunity that focuses on youth ages 16 to 24 who represent the next generation of leaders and movement makers.

MLI is an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of community organizing, a vital and effective tool in igniting change in our communities by putting the power in the hands of the people who know what they need where they live. MLI training aims to develop and build youth leaders over a four-week period in a rigorous in-person setting. Training takes place at 429 Plymouth Avenue, Buffalo 14213. Apply online.

Please email Sarah Frasier or call (716) 603-4982 with questions or comments.

Winterim: CPR/AED Training - January 24

Posted:

Please join us for a Winterim CPR/AED training workshop on Tuesday, January 24, from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Weigel Wellness Center 203. Participants will learn how to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), use an automated external defibrillator (AED), and provide relief to choking victims. Skills are taught for use with adults, children, and infants.

According to the American Heart Association, 70 percent of Americans feel helpless to act during a cardiac emergency because either they do not know how to administer CPR or their training has significantly lapsed. This alarming statistic could hit close to home, because home is exactly where 88 percent of cardiac arrests occur.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), which is a form of first aid, is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including heart attack, cardiac arrest, or near drowning, in which someone's breathing or heartbeat has stopped. First aid is the help given to a sick or injured person until full medical treatment is available.

Course Fee: One-Time Waiver
For this CPR/AED training only, the Winterim committee will pay for the first 16 participants (faculty, staff, and students only) who register for this session through the Workshop Registration System (LibCal). Funding is generously provided by a grant received through the Faculty-Student Association. Registration is limited to 16 participants.

Registration
Please register through the Workshop Registration System (LibCal).
