Tell Students: March into Midterms - 'Barriers to Success' Workshop - March 1

Please tell students to join us Wednesday, March 1, for the kickoff workshop in our March into Midterms Academic Success and Learning Skills Workshop Series, "Barriers to Success: Identifying Your Red Flags and Learning How to Cope," presented by Paula Madrigal, assistant director of prevention and health promotion, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Butler Library 314. The workshop will address the importance of creating a healthy environment for success. We all get stressed, but this workshop will teach you how to prevent stress from becoming a barrier. You'll learn how to identify your red flags and use healthy coping methods to respond to stress.

Hosted by the Academic Success Learning Centers (the Academic Center for Excellence, Math Center, Tutoring Services, and Writing Center), all workshops in the series take place Wednesdays during March from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Butler Library 314.

Please join us for the next workshop in the March into Midterms Academic Success and Learning Skills Workshop Series, "Don’t Take the Test, “A”ce the Test: Effective Strategies for Test Preparation, Test-Taking, and Test Anxiety," presented by Maria Brickhouse, coordinator of the Educational Opportunity Program Academic Center for Excellence, and Erica Demler, coordinator of the Math Center, on Wednesday, March 22, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Butler Library 314.

This workshop will help students gain an understanding of effective strategies for how to best study for an upcoming test; how to take tests smartly and efficiently; and how to keep anxiety and nerves under control while testing.

This workshop will provide an overview of two strategies that will help you read with focus and intent so you can avoid walking away from an assignment asking, "What did I just read?"
