Tell Students: Meet the Greeks - September 12

Posted:

Students are invited to attend Meet the Greeks on Tuesday, September 12, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. in the Student Union Plaza. Meet the Greeks is an event at the start of the fall semester where potential new members get their first chance to meet all the social Greek fraternities and sororities at Buffalo State! This event is an excellent way for students to get to know our organizations as well as a great way for our organizations to advertise their values and accomplishments to the campus community.

Greek Life at Buffalo State is dedicated to enhancing the development of students through membership in our Greek organizations. Each fraternity and sorority offers students an opportunity to be part of a close-knit community that promotes leadership, service, and academic excellence. Our staff supports initiatives dedicated to scholarship, service, community advocacy, philanthropy, safety, and wellness. All organizations must follow Buffalo State’s recruitment protocols.

Community-Engaged Learning Reflection Activities: October 24

Posted:

Please join the Teaching and Learning Center for the session "Community-Engaged Learning Reflection Activities," presented by Alice Villaseńor, associate director of civic and community engagement, on Tuesday, October 24, from 12:15 to 1:30 p.m. in the Grande Conference Room, Cleveland Hall 418.

Reflection activities are an essential component of community-engaged learning courses because they connect your students’ work in the community with their course content. This session will begin with a brief overview of the research about the importance of reflection in community-engaged learning courses. The bulk of our time will be spent participating in a reflection activity and discussion of reflection assignments across various disciplines. Participants will walk away with practical resources they can use when planning their future community-engaged learning courses.

Please come prepared to participate and share the kinds of reflection assignments you have found to be useful in your own discipline. This session is appropriate for both skilled community-engaged learning practitioners and those who have yet to teach a community-engaged learning course.

Please register through the Workshop Registration System.
