Zhang Jie, professor of sociology and director of the Center for China Studies, published his article "Life Satisfaction and Its Correlates among College Students in China: A Test of Social Reference Theory" in the Asian Journal of Psychiatry 10:17–20. The article's coauthors are Sibo Zhao, David Lester, and Chengchao Zhou, who was a visiting scholar to Buffalo State in 2010–2011 and is now an adjunct instructor in the college's Sociology Department.

Zhou Rui was a visiting scholar to Buffalo State in 2012–2013.

Ellen Sidey , Instructional Resources

Meghan Pereira, Ginger Bidell, and Ellen Sidey of the Instructional Resources Department, in conjunction with Jenna Dulak, instructional designer at Hilbert College, have created the Western New York Blackboard Users Group (WNYBUG). BUGs are supported by Blackboard and exist as a way for Blackboard users in our area to meet, whether virtually or in person, to exchange ideas and expertise. Currently the group's membership spans 20 public and private institutions within Western and Central New York.

The group has a website and a Listserv and will host an eLearning Day at Hilbert College on Friday, October 17.

All are welcome to join the BUG by subscribing to the Listserv, and all are encouraged to register for the free eLearning Day event and to submit presentation proposals. Representatives from Blackboard and invited vendors will also be in attendance. Please join us!

Frances Gage, assistant professor of fine arts, published the essay “Giulio Mancini: Caravaggio’s Death of the Virgin and the Madonna Blasphemed” in Caravaggio: Reflections and Refractions, pp. 83–105 (Pericolo and Stone, eds.; Ashgate, 2014). She also published the article “Invention, Wit, and Melancholy in the Art of Annibale Carracci in Intellectual History Review 24 (2): 1–26 (special issue, The Nature of Invention).
